(Baonghean.vn) - In Nam Dinh's 3-0 victory over Hanoi in round 1 of V.League 2021, which took place yesterday afternoon, January 15, coach Nguyen Van Sy made a surprising decision when he put goalkeeper Ho Van Tu in the starting lineup, instead of the experienced "goalkeeper".

Despite being a product of SLNA's training center and contributing greatly to the championship achievement of U17 SLNA at the 2012 National U17 Finals, Ho Van Tu has never played for the Nghe An team in the V.League. Even the goalkeeper from Quynh Luu was only registered by SLNA for half a season (phase 1 of the 2020 season).
In recent seasons, Ho Van Tu had to regularly wear the shirts of lower-ranked teams Dong Thap (twice) and Binh Dinh on loan from SLNA. Therefore, being in the starting lineup of Nam Dinh Club in the "nail-biting" match against Hanoi Club, in round 1 of V.League 2021, has a very great meaning for the 26-year-old goalkeeper personally.

Ho Van Tu has never played for the Nghe An team in the V.League.

Not letting down the trust of the Nam Dinh Club's coaching staff, Ho Van Tu played quite impressively in his first appearance for the fans of Thanh Nam. Not only did he come in and out reasonably and had quick reflexes, Ho Van Tu also did quite well in commanding the defense, which is rare for a rookie.

Without the excellence of the 1995-born goalkeeper, the home team's net at Thien Truong Stadium would have been difficult to keep intact after the visitors' shots. Two consecutive accurate saves from Nguyen Quang Hai's cross and Pham Thanh Luong's dangerous shot at the beginning of the second half were typical examples of Ho Van Tu's excellence.

Sharing with Nghe An Newspaper, Ho Van Tu said: "Honestly, I was very surprised when I was in the starting lineup. In the first minutes of the match, I was quite nervous and tense, because Hanoi Club has many excellent strikers and Thien Truong Stadium was crowded. I am very happy that the coaching staff had good tactics, and my teammates all played wonderfully."
So, Ho Van Tu had a smooth start at his new team. Hopefully, the former goalkeeper of SLNA, Dong Thap and Binh Dinh will continue to improve, and together with the team from Thanh Nam, he will reap many successes in the future.
