These days, in the vegetable fields of Dien Thanh commune, Dien Chau district, farmers are busy harvesting.tomatowinter crop in excitement because tomatoes this season have good prices.
Mr. Thai Ba Gac - Hamlet 6, Dien Thanh Commune said: "Growing tomatoes has the advantage of being easy to care for, stable productivity, and high economic efficiency. With the Da Lat tomato variety, this crop, my family planted 1.5 sao, each tree yielded an average of 3 - 5 kg of fruit. With a selling price of 8,000 - 15,000 VND/kg, after deducting expenses, my family earned a profit of about 25 million VND/sao/crop.

While harvesting tomatoes, Mr. Cao Van Yen in Dien Thanh commune shared: Each harvest hastradercome to the house to buy, the price is more stable than some other fruit and vegetable plants. Therefore, in the past 3 years, the family has boldly invested, expanding the area of tomato cultivation to have more income.
With the cost of planting and care, if the price of tomatoes is from 5,000 VND/kg or more, we farmers will make a profit. For every 1 sao of tomatoes, within 4-5 months, the yield is from 3.5 - 4 tons of fruit, farmers earn about 25 million VND after deducting costs.

This winter, the whole districtDien Chauplanted over 10 hectares of tomatoes, concentrated in communes such as Dien Thanh, Dien Phong, Dien Hoang. To help people improve economic efficiency from tomatoes in particular, and winter vegetables in general, Dien Chau has coordinated with relevant agencies to open technical training courses on planting and caring for tomatoes. Along with that, directing agricultural officers of localities to regularly check and promptly inform people about the situation of pests and diseases and preventive and control measures.

Encourage farmers to grow a variety of tomato varieties, spread out the area evenly throughout the crop, but only keep the area stable at about 10 hectares and not increase it to avoid the situation of good harvest but low price.
