Nghe An rice homeland receives about 45 million USD in remittances during Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of Tan Suu this year, the amount of remittances sent back to their homeland by children of Yen Thanh rice district (Nghe An) working abroad reached about 45 million USD.

Yen Thanh is one of the localities with a high number of children of overseas workers in the province.Nghe An, including many children of workers in European countries, with very good incomes.
Mr. Phan Minh Khue - Head of the Yen Thanh District Statistics Office said: In 2020, the whole district had 1,186 children working abroad, bringing the total number of children currently working in other countries to nearly 18,000 people. Last year, despite the pandemic,Covid-19happening in many countries, but Yen Thanh's children abroad still have a stable income, the estimated amount of remittances sent home is about 220 million USD. Of which, about 20% is sent during Tet, equivalent to 45 million USD.
The localities with the largest number of children working abroad are Son Thanh, Vien Thanh, Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh. In recent years, there have been additional communes: Lang Thanh, Ma Thanh, Tien Thanh...

A typical example is Son Thanh commune, a locality that initiated the movement of sending children to work abroad. Currently, the commune has nearly 1,500 children working in European countries. Mr. Nguyen Huu Sau - Chairman of the Commune People's Committee said that during the year, children in the commune sent about 8 million USD in remittances, equivalent to nearly 200 billion VND.
The amount of remittances sent home is increasing, peopleYen Thanhhave a more stable life, build many high-rise buildings, buy cars and expensive living facilities.
