General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting with former members of the Politburo and Secretariat.
On the morning of February 27, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, the Politburo and the Secretariat held an informal meeting with former members of the Politburo, the Secretariat and the Party Central Committee of the 12th tenure who were not re-elected for the 13th tenure. General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired the meeting.

In the warm atmosphere of the first days of the New Year, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong expressed his respect for former members of the Politburo, Secretariat and former members of the Party Central Committee of the 12th tenure who were not re-elected for the 13th tenure, senior officials of the Party and State who held important positions in central and local agencies, were key figures in various sectors and fields, made many contributions and dedications during their work and accumulated valuable practical experience.
The Politburo and the Secretariat highly appreciate and sincerely thank you for your great contributions to the Party, people and country.
The General Secretary and President stated that after the 13th National Party Congress, despite the great impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the atmosphere of Spring and traditional Tet celebrations was joyful and warm across the country. People were excited and confident in the success of the Congress, in the leadership of the Party and the future development of the nation. The atmosphere of unity was very high within the Party and among the people.
During the 12th tenure, especially in 2020, Vietnam has achieved many comprehensive achievements. The entire Party, people and army have united, strived, shared difficulties, successfully completed the entire term's Program with 15 Central Conferences, decided on many important issues, contributing to the success of the 13th National Party Congress.
At the 13th Congress, 73 members of the 12th Party Central Committee were not re-elected for the 13th term. Whether they continue to work or retire, this is a force rich in courage, intelligence, enthusiasm, responsibility and practical experience.

General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong hopes to continue receiving support, assistance and advice from former members of the 12th Party Central Committee. In the coming time, in their new positions and conditions, they will continue to dedicate and contribute to the Party, the people and the country.
The Politburo, the Secretariat, and the 13th Central Executive Committee always respect, listen to, and learn from your experiences and proactively seek your opinions on important issues of the Party and the country; inherit and further promote existing achievements and experiences, and continue to develop the country for a prosperous and happy life for the people.
On behalf of the Politburo, the Secretariat, General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong, I wish all former members of the Politburo, the Secretariat, and the Central Committee of the 12th Party Congress, and their families good health, happiness, peace and prosperity.
Speaking at the meeting, many former members of the Politburo, Secretariat, and former members of the 12th Party Central Committee shared their sincere feelings and expressed their confidence in the Politburo, Secretariat, and 13th Party Central Committee, who will continue to lead and develop the country further in the coming time.
Expressing gratitude to the Party and State for always paying attention to training, fostering, and helping them in their work, striving, and growing up, the comrades pledged to continue contributing to the Party's cause, consolidating and strengthening solidarity within the Party.
