Fixed-route 7 passenger buses in Nghe An continue to stop

(Baonghean.vn) - This morning, March 4, fixed passenger bus routes running on Highway 7 from Vinh to the mountainous districts of Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, and Ky Son continued to stop and protest illegal buses and buses that crossed the route.

After the meeting between transport units and drivers running on fixed routes on Route 7 with representatives of the Department of Transport and the Inspectorate of Nghe An Department of Transport on the afternoon of March 3, although Mr. Nguyen Viet Hung - Head of the Transport Department, Department of Transport had committed to strictly handling contract vehicles after detecting violations, and at the same time requested transport units to put the vehicles back into operation. However, this morning, March 4, passenger vehicles on Route 7 continued to line up at the station to protest, waiting for the authorities to have a specific written response before resuming operation.

Due to the situation of bus companies stopping and protesting, this morning, the travel of people along Route 7 to Vinh and vice versa was affected. Many customers had the need to travel but did not have a vehicle.

Mr. Pham Xuan Binh, from Hung Nguyen, a worker in Tuong Duong district, said that he is a regular passenger on the Vinh - Muong Xen route, going up and down 4 times a month. This morning, it was his day off, so he went to catch a bus to the South, but there were no buses running. He called many bus companies but they all said they were out of service.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of Nghe An Transport Association said: After we have collected opinions and related images, we will soon send them to the authorities. We also hope that the Department of Transport and the authorities will soon resolve this issue to stabilize passenger transport activities on Route 7.

Mr. Nguyen Van Sy - Deputy Head of Bac Vinh Bus Station said: From 10:00 am on March 3rd until now, there has been no departure at Bac Vinh Bus Station. The fact that all transport units on Route 7 have stopped running has significantly affected the transport activities at the bus station in particular and the travel of people in general.

Mr. Sy also informed that since yesterday, many passengers have come to the station and even called the station's switchboard to ask about not seeing the bus on route 7. The station can only explain to passengers to understand the situation and look for other means of transportation.

This morning, April 4, 2021, the Department of Transport also had a quick meeting with representatives of bus stations, the Transport Association and related departments. The Department's leaders also assigned the parties to promptly handle the matter to bring the transport work back to operation.
