US Congress calls for sanctions against Russia's 'Nord Stream - 2'
Several Republican lawmakers in the US House of Representatives have sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressing concern about the lack of action by President Joe Biden's administration to deal with the Nord Stream 2 project.
“We are writing to you to express our deep concern about the implementation of the Biden administration’s plans to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 under the European Energy Security Act (PEESA),” the letter, published by the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, reads.

Republican lawmakers also expressed concern that the US government's statements regarding the gas pipeline do not appear to be supported and demonstrated by actual government actions.
Members of Congress have released a list of 15 ships and several companies involved in the project that the US government has not yet imposed sanctions on, and have called for this to be done as quickly as possible.
Nord Stream 2 is a gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany along the bottom of the Baltic Sea. It was supposed to be operational by the end of 2019, but construction was delayed due to US sanctions.
