(Baonghean.vn) - After her parents divorced, the three children lived with their father. Then, their father was arrested for drugs, leaving the three children who already lacked a mother without a father. Missing her father and mother, the third grade girl wrote emotional diary entries.

The father kept making mistakes

Tran Duc Dung, resident of Dien Ngoc commune, Dien Chau district, was brought to trial by the People's Court of Nghe An province for the crime of Illegally transporting drugs. According to relatives, because he got married early, the defendant now has 3 children. More than a year ago, Dung and his wife divorced. Because the youngest child was under 36 months old, the court ordered the mother to raise and care for him. However, the wife often left home, so Dung was left to take care of the 3 children.

Loving her son, Dung's mother, despite fighting a serious illness, still tries to work to help her son.

“To earn money to raise his children, Dung did all kinds of jobs, from following his father to build boats to importing functional foods from Germany to sell online,” the defendant’s sister said. Worrying about his children put a lot of pressure on the young father’s life. But it was during that difficult time that Tran Duc Dung caused a traffic accident that injured one person. At this time, Dung ran around everywhere to borrow 30 million VND to compensate the victim. At the end of 2020, Dung was brought to trial by the People’s Court of Dien Chau district and sentenced to 3 years in prison for violating road traffic regulations. Notably, at the time of his trial for this crime, Dung was also being detained for drug-related crimes.
According to the investigation agency's documents, on June 22, 2020, Dung used the social network Zalo to chat with a man named Phu, who is currently working in Germany. During the conversation, Phu told Dung to receive a cardboard box containing drugs from a bus running from Hanoi to Vinh and bring it home to Phu. Dung agreed.
After receiving the package sent by Phu, Dung checked and found that in addition to the functional food boxes, there were also 10 plastic boxes containing drugs. According to Phu's instructions, Dung kept these boxes separately to deliver to the customer in a few days. On June 24, Dung took the "goods" to the bus station to Vinh city at the address Phu sent. However, because the recipient did not take the goods, the bus assistant returned them. The next afternoon, Dung went to the bus station to get the returned package but was arrested by the police force, the evidence was more than 1 kg.drug.
At the trial, the defendant did not admit to the crime. The defendant stated that he only received the functional foods to resell to earn money to raise his children. The defendant stated that he did not know that the package Phu sent contained drugs.
Diary of a 3rd Grade Girl
During the two days of the trial of the defendant Dung, the image of the defendant's three young children made many people feel sorry. Not allowed to go inside, the youngest child, over 2 years old, stood outside the hallway calling "Daddy... Daddy Dung". Seeing no response from his father, the child could only fall into his grandmother's arms. Sitting in the middle of the hallway of the court, the miserable woman could only hug her grandchild, watching her son cry helplessly. Her son was in trouble with the law, her ex-daughter-in-law had left, so even though she had cancer, Dung's mother still tried to work hard to take care of her grandchild. The pain was so great that she could only wipe her tears with the hem of her old shirt.

The letter she wrote was full of feelings.

But the most touching thing was when the defendant’s family showed photos of Dung’s eldest daughter’s diary. “Missing mom and dad, missing grandma and grandpa, sad. Wishing the family was happy and loving each other. Wishing mom and dad would come back soon, love each other, not be angry with each other anymore…”, the diary entries of the 9-year-old girl made many people feel sorry.

Living in a state of emotional deprivation, now that her father is in prison, the third grade girl wrote these tearful passages: “Why don’t I have my parents living with me? Everyone has parents living happily together, but I don’t. Everyone else’s parents take them to school every day, and on Saturdays and Sundays they take them out to play, but I…”

Or on the days near Tet, when every family gets together but I don't, the 3rd grade girl confided in her diary: "It's almost Tet. Tet is a very happy day, because I have my dad, I get lucky money from my uncle... But this year's Tet is sad because I don't have my dad. Any Tet without my dad is never a happy Tet."
Even Dung's family members did not expect the 9-year-old girl to have such mature thinking. Defendant Dung's sister said: One time when she opened the book to teach her niece, she was stunned when she read the lines of her niece's longing for her parents written on the old pages. At that time, she and her husband could only look at each other and cry. The next day, she and her husband decided to buy their niece a notebook for her to write a diary. So, every night before going to bed, the 3rd grade girl poured out her longing for her parents, her love for her younger siblings, and her grandparents into the pages. The diary pages had many spelling mistakes, and were written in a simple style, but were filled with the thoughts of a daughter whose father was in prison.

Following her relatives to the court, the little girl could only watch her father from afar. She wished she could hug him tightly, but because of the court rules, she could not. Helpless, the poor girl could only cover her face and cry.

Although at the trial, the defendant did not admit to the crime, based on the defendant's statements during the investigation and the evidence collected, the panel of judges affirmed that there was sufficient basis to confirm the defendant's crime, so they sentenced Tran Duc Dung to life in prison.
