Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc elected as President
The 14th National Assembly elected comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc, member of the 13th Politburo and deputy of the 14th National Assembly, to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term.

On the morning of April 5, with 468/468 delegates present in favor (accounting for 97.5% of the total number of National Assembly delegates), the National Assembly passed the Resolution to elect Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc as President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term.
The Resolution stated: The 14th National Assembly elected Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc, member of the 13th Politburo, deputy of the 14th National Assembly, to hold the position of President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term. The Resolution takes effect from the date of approval by the National Assembly.
Earlier, at the beginning of the session, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, on behalf of the National Assembly Standing Committee, reported to the National Assembly the results of discussions at the Delegation and explained and accepted the opinions of National Assembly deputies on the expected personnel to elect the President.
The National Assembly then discusses and votes to approve the list to elect the President. The National Assembly elects the President by secret ballot.

After the Vote Counting Committee announced the vote counting results, Secretary General of the National Assembly Nguyen Hanh Phuc presented the draft Resolution on the election of the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam for the 2016-2021 term. The National Assembly discussed and approved this Resolution.
Comrade Nguyen Xuan Phuc was born on July 20, 1954, his hometown is Quang Nam. Political theory level: Senior, professional level: Bachelor of Economics. He is a member of the Politburo of the 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; a member of the Party Central Committee of the 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th terms; and a National Assembly delegate of the 11th, 13th, and 14th terms./.
