On the morning of April 9, the Nghe An Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee held an online conference to launch the "Food Safety Action Month" and deploy tasks to ensure food safety in 2021 in Nghe An province. Doctor CKII Nguyen Huu Le, Deputy Director of the Department of Health chaired the conference.

Attending the conference were members of the Provincial Food Safety Steering Committee and its working group; representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Department of Industry and Trade; leaders of the People's Committees of districts, cities, towns, communes, wards and townships; and medical units in the province.

In 2020, food safety work in Nghe An province was well implemented. The assignment and decentralization basically created unity in implementation. Hundreds of pilot models on food safety have been built in the province, initially creating positive effects.

All levels of industry have strictly controlled production, business and processing.food; prevent the circulation and trading of fake, poor quality, expired food products, and food products that violate food safety laws.

The whole province has inspected and examined 20,966 establishments. Of which, 17,430 establishments have met the standards and 3,536 establishments have passed the standards.violate, fined 1,342 establishments with a total fine of nearly 3 billion VND and warned and reminded 2,194 establishments.

In 2020, there were 3 food poisoning cases in the province, affecting 17 people, with no deaths and no food poisoning cases affecting 30 or more people. 100% of food poisoning cases were investigated and reported according to regulations. Compared to 2019, the number of cases decreased by 1 case and the number of people affected decreased by 49 people.

However, food safety assurance in the province still has many limitations: Production and business activities are mainly on a family scale, so management is difficult; dirty food, poor quality food, floating food, and food of unknown origin still exists; inspection, examination and handling of administrative violations are not really drastic, especially at the district and commune levels.

In 2021, Nghe An province aims to control food safety quality based on improving the state management capacity on food safety from the provincial level to the commune, ward and town levels to ensure consistency and unity in direction and operation, contributing to protecting people's health and rights.
