Inauguration and handover of classrooms at Muong Long 2 Primary School (Ky Son)

Boarding classroom project for Primary SchoolMuong Long2 started construction in early December 2020 due toTrung Do Joint Stock Companysponsored through the connection of the Provincial Red Cross. The project has a total value of 470 million VND, of which 390 million VND is used to build 2 boarding houses, 5 closed toilets and some other auxiliary equipment serving boarding students worth nearly 80 million VND.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Duy Hien - Director of Trung Do Joint Stock Company congratulated the teachers and students of the school on having a new school building. Sincerely thanked the companionship and support of Ky Son district and related units to help the construction project on schedule.

At the ceremony, the representative of Ky Son District People's Committee sincerely thanked the sponsors for their sharing and enthusiastic support; and said: Due to the large area and limited resources, despite efforts, the investment and consolidation of schools and classrooms encountered many difficulties.

Muong Long commune has 2 primary schools, of which Muong Long 2 Primary School is located in Sa Lay village, about 4 km from the commune center, with extremely difficult travel conditions. Despite efforts, the district has only invested in 7 solid classrooms, with 5 temporary classrooms and a lack of toilets. The school has 200 students of 5 ages, of which 79 are semi-boarding students. Before it was built, during the rainy season and especially in winter, the learning and living conditions of teachers and students were very difficult.

Muong Long Commune is located about 50 km northeast of Muong Xen town and is one of the particularly difficult communes of Ky Son district. The commune consists of 13 villages, mainly inhabited by Mong people with more than 885 households/4,731 people. Despite many efforts, the poverty rate is still over 35%, near-poor households 40.01%.
