Two people returning from Japan quarantined in Nghe An tested positive for SARS-CoV-2

(Baonghean.vn) - Two out of 222 Vietnamese citizens returning from Japan under the direction of the Government who are being quarantined in Nghe An tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus.

At 6:00 a.m. on April 16, 2021, Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Dinh Chinh - Director of the Department of Health, Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Nghe An province said: 2 people out of 222 Vietnamese citizens returning from Japan who are being quarantined in Nghe An have tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus.

These two people have been taken to a medical facility for isolation and treatment.

At 9:30 this morning, the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control of Nghe An province will hold an urgent meeting.

As reported by Nghe An Newspaper: Implementing the direction of the Government Office, at 8:40 p.m. on April 14, 2021, Nghe An welcomed flight number VJ7835 carrying 222 passengers from Narita Airport (Japan) to Vinh International Airport.

These 222 passengers are Vietnamese workers in Japan (including many children from Nghe An) returning home to avoid the epidemic in the context of the Covid-19 epidemic increasing again in some major provinces of Japan.

This is the first time Nghe An has received a flight to rescue citizens returning home to prevent the epidemic. Nghe An's reception of citizens from abroad for centralized quarantine to prevent the epidemic clearly demonstrates the spirit of joining hands and contributing, together with the whole country to fight and win the Covid-19 epidemic.

After the plane landed, all Vietnamese workers returning to Japan were disinfected, had their health declarations checked, and had samples taken for SARS-CoV-2 testing upon arrival at a paid centralized quarantine area at an accommodation facility in the province.

During the quarantine period, the authorities pay special attention to the work of separating and zoning the quarantine areas, monitoring the treatment of waste according to regulations, absolutely preventing cross-infection in the quarantine facilities; and implementing a 24/7 duty regime for officers on duty.
