Difficult family situation of female student whose lung was crushed by water tank and thigh bone was broken

After nearly a month of treatment at hospitals, on the afternoon of April 24, Thao was taken home from Nghe An Children's Hospital by her mother to recuperate. Her grandmother's small house in Hamlet 4, Van Son Commune is where Thao and her mother have been staying for many years.

Ms. Tran Nguyen Thi Hoa (39 years old), Thao's mother, said that due to family circumstances,hard, not having a house, the couple had to take their children to live with their grandmother. The mother and children, grandmother and grandchildren lived in a cramped house with a cement roof, peeling walls, crumbling bricks, and every time it rained or was windy, they had to use a tarp to cover it.

“The house doesn't have a bathroom yet, so my husband and I took advantage of the fence to put two wooden bars on top and put it up.water tank"I went up to take a bath. The wooden bar broke over time, causing the water tank to collapse and cause the accident," said Ms. Hoa.

According to Ms. Hoa, on March 29, while Thao was bathing in the bathroom, the 500-liter water tank above her head suddenly collapsed. At the time of the incident, only her grandmother, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Tien (82 years old), was at home. Hearing her cry for help, people around ran to carry the water tank, pulled Thao out and took her to the hospital. From Do Luong District General Hospital, Thao was transferred to Nghe An Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

Here, the doctor said: Thao suffered multiple injuries, crushed lung lobe, severed pulmonary artery, hemothorax, pneumothorax, fractured left femur, coma, critical condition. During the treatment at the hospital, Thao underwent 3 surgeries and had to receive 9 liters of blood.

After more than 20 days of treatment, the child regained consciousness and overcame the attack.dangerous. In the past few days, my health has improved and the hospital has allowed me to go home. I can now drink milk and eat porridge. I cannot move by myself because my broken leg has not healed yet. My mother and grandmother help me with all my activities.

It is known that Thao is the eldest child in a family of 2 children (her younger brother is in 3rd grade). Thao herself is in 9C grade at Nguyen Thai Nhu Secondary School. Although her family's circumstances are difficult, Thao always tries to study well. Her annual final exam scores are often at the top of her class.

From grade 1 to grade 9, Thao received a certificate of merit from the school every year. During the days lying in bed, Thao missed her class, friends, and teachers very much and wished to get well so she could go to school.

During the days when her daughter had an accident, only her mother was worried and running around, because her father was quarantined in Vung Tau. According to Ms. Hoa, she and her husband are farmers, in addition to farming a few fields, they also do extra jobs to earn money to raise their children. For the past few years, she has been the only one who has been selling vegetables to cover household expenses. However, the family's life has not improved, and difficulties keep piling up.

In a difficult situation, her husband, Mr. Duong Van Tam (48 years old), wanted to "change his life" so he decided to borrow money to go to Russia to do business. Unexpectedly, after 2 years in Russia, he encountered an epidemic and could only "keep his life", but could not earn any money to send back to help his wife and children. Hearing that his child had an accident, thanks to the support of his fellow countrymen, Vietnamese people in Russia, he was able to get a plane ticket home.

Talking about Thao's family, Ms. Dinh Thi Hao - President of the Women's Union of Van Son commune said: Ms. Tran Nguyen Thi Hoa's family hassituationespecially difficult, especially since Thao had an accident, even more destitute, had to borrow money everywhere.
