Nghe An has a border length of over 468km adjacent to three provinces of Bolikhamxay, Xieng Khouang and Hua Phan... with many trails and openings across the border.

For over a year, since the Covid-19 pandemic appeared and spread, the provincial Border Guard has maintained 101 teams, checkpoints, and stations to prevent and combat the Covid-19 pandemic. Many officers and soldiers on duty at the checkpoints have temporarily put aside personal work such as postponing weddings and not returning to their hometowns to celebrate Tet to prevent illegal immigrants.

These days, the Covid-19 epidemic situation in neighboring countries such as Laos, Thailand, and Cambodia is very complicated. As of the afternoon of May 1, Laos has a total of 821 Covid-19 cases, of which 773 new cases have been detected since the beginning of April. In particular, in 2 provinces bordering Nghe An, positive cases have appeared, increasing the risk of spreading the disease due to illegal entry in the border area.

The reinforced officers will perform tasks at teams and checkpoints such as supporting the situation, promptly detecting and handling individuals and organizations that directly carry out or assist in illegal immigration; propagating to people in border areas to strictly implement the Party and State's policies on Covid-19 prevention and control; mobilizing people to actively support functional forces to promptly detect cases of illegal immigration on the border.

This is a timely and important addition to the work of disease prevention and control at the present time.
