Nun Lien Ngoc said that she is healthy and still practicing at Giac Nhien Pagoda, part of Minh Dang Quang Monastery, located in Westminster, California, USA. Thuy Nga said: "You have been a nun for so long but you are still as beautiful as ever. I have gotten used to calling you a beauty queen. You have gone from a person of high status to a monk, I really admire you! In the past, you loved branded goods, now you only carry cloth bags."
Nun Lien Ngoc or Miss Bich Lien was once known as a beauty queen and a wealthy businesswoman. She was originally from Quang Nam, born and raised in Phu Quoc, Kien Giang province. Around 1980, she moved to the US to settle down and set up a business there. In 1986, Bich Lien won the Miss Ao Dai Kansas, USA. In 2012, she won the Miss Asia World title.

Since the early 2000s, Miss Bich Lien has started to be a vegetarian and recite Buddha's name. She settled in the US but often returned to Vietnam to do charity work. She set up a fund in her name to help the poor and unfortunate. From her charity trips, she was haunted by the impermanence of human life and wanted to become a nun.
In 2014, she told her teacher, Venerable Thich Giac Nhien, her intention to become a nun and he agreed. In May 2015, Bich Lien officially shaved her head and became a nun at Ngoc Van Monastery (Binh Thuan, Phan Thiet). At that time, many local people and some of her overseas artists, customers and partners came to the monastery to witness the ordination ceremony.

Before that, she practiced at Nhu Lai Thien Tu (San Diego, California). After studying for a few months in Binh Thuan, Bich Lien returned to Giac Nhien Pagoda (Westminster, California), where she received the robe and bowl from her teacher. She has practiced here ever since, currently practicing and guiding Buddhists in their practice.
