Coach Le Thuy Hai has passed away.
(Baonghean.vn) - Mr. Le Thuy Hai, who led Binh Duong Club to three V-League championships, passed away at the age of 76 due to pancreatic cancer on the afternoon of May 7th.
Coach Hai fell ill two years ago and was repeatedly taken to Singapore for treatment by his family, where he had 80% of his pancreas removed. Last year, former central defender Nguyen Manh Dung shared a picture of Coach Le Thuy Hai in his hospital bed, which saddened his fans.

Binh Duong is the club that has been associated with the most (five times), and is also the most successful for Mr. Hai, with three V-League championships in 2007, 2008, and 2014, in addition to being runner-up once in 2006, and winning the National Cup in 2008 and 2014.
He also managed many other clubs such as Da Nang, Thanh Hoa, The Cong, Ninh Binh, Hai Phong... Hai's last job was as Technical Director (essentially a coach) at Thanh Hoa in the 2016 season.
During his playing career, Mr. Hai played as a midfielder for the Railway Club from 1965 to 1980 and also represented the Vietnamese national team. He retired from playing in 1980 but only began his coaching career in 1995 as an assistant coach at the Railway Club.
Besides his achievements, Coach Le Thuy Hai is also remembered as a strong-willed individual who often makes bold statements. This has led to conflicts with some colleagues and players. However, many people also hold him in high regard.
