"HospitalNghe An Obstetrics and Pediatricsis a medical facility specializing in the treatment of obstetrics and gynecology diseases, so there are often many difficult cases in the province and neighboring areas coming for treatment. Cervical cancer patients often come to the hospital when they are in the advanced stage. We have explained thoroughly to the family and made a detailed treatment plan. The Department of Obstetrics and Pediatrics, Nghe An Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital has applied the most optimal method of laparoscopic surgery for many gynecological treatment cases such as endometrial cancer, cervical cancer... With the desire to both help treat the disease effectively and help patients recover quickly, ensuring aesthetics, the doctors decided to perform minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery to remove the uterus and widely remove pelvic lymph nodes for patient T" - Master, Doctor Tran Canh - Deputy Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Pediatrics said.

After nearly 3 hours of surgery, the surgical team of the Department of Obstetrics and Anesthesia and Resuscitation successfully performed surgery on patient T. The patient had a radical hysterectomy and 13 pelvic lymph nodes removed using minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery.

Doctors also conducted pathological analysis on these organs to decide on the next treatment plan. Despite the complicated surgery, after only 1 day, the patient was completely awake, less painful, and the incision was very small to ensure aesthetics. Currently, the patient is eating and walking normally. The patient is expected to be discharged in the next 2 days.

Master, Doctor Tran Canh added: Cervical cancer is the third most common cancer in Vietnamese women. Slow-progressing cervical cancer is often caused by the HPV virus, which is transmitted sexually. The danger is that the signs of cervical cancer in the early stages are very vague, with almost no symptoms. HPV is a group of viruses with more than 100 different types, of which strains 16 and 18 are the cause of 70% of cervical cancer cases.

If early-stage cancer is treated promptly, the 5-year survival rate is 95%. On the contrary, if it is detected in the late stages, when the cancer has metastasized far away, the 5-year survival rate is only 10%. The typical sign of cervical cancer is abnormal vaginal bleeding, especially after sexual intercourse, between menstrual cycles or after menopause.

To prevent cervical cancer, women should get vaccinated against HPV (for girls from 9 to 26 years old, who have not had sex). Women need to have regular cervical cancer screening tests using Pap smears (for women 20-30 years old) or HPV tests (for women 30-65 years old) to detect abnormal cells and/or precancerous cells in the cervix for early treatment with a high chance of success./.
