(Baonghean.vn) - As of May 14, 2021, the number of voters in Nghe An province was 2,285,351. The commune-level election committee is directing the review of the posted voter list to proactively update changes in a timely manner, ensuring the preparation and posting of the voter list in accordance with legal regulations.

On the morning of May 18, the National Election Council held a national online conference to review the election of deputies to the 15th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.

ELECTION PREPARATIONS FOLLOWING THE PLAN

The assessment of the National Election Council shows that the election is being carried out synchronously and closely by all levels, sectors, provinces and cities, achieving high results. The election preparation work has closely followed the plan, in accordance with the Election Law and the resolution of the National Election Council. The whole country has a total of 69,198,954 voters with 84,767 polling stations.

Nghe An has 5 constituencies for electing National Assembly deputies; 26 constituencies for electing provincial People's Council deputies, 216 constituencies for electing district-level People's Council deputies, 3,242 constituencies for electing commune-level People's Council deputies and 3,416 constituencies.

Of which, 159 constituencies and 207 constituencies of 4 districts: Ky Son, Con Cuong, Que Phong, and Tuong Duong voted 2 days earlier (May 21, 2021) than the scheduled election date of May 23, 2021.

The number of elected representatives in Nghe An is 13 National Assembly representatives, 83 provincial People's Council representatives, 737 district-level People's Council representatives and 10,993 commune-level People's Council representatives.

As of May 14, 2021, the number of voters in the province was 2,285,351. As of May 17, 2021, Nghe An has organized 24/24 voter contact conferences for candidates for National Assembly deputies, 54/54 voter contact conferences for candidates for provincial People's Council deputies, 312/392 voter contact conferences for candidates for district People's Council deputies; 2,874/3,264 voter contact conferences for candidates for commune-level People's Council deputies.

Faced with the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the province has also developed specific plans and scenarios for organizing election day in localities without the epidemic, localities with the epidemic; at locations implementing social distancing, home isolation, workplace, residence, centralized medical isolation, social isolation or at medical facilities.

To ensure that the election is organized democratically, in accordance with the law, absolutely safe, and successful, especially in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, the conference reviewed the preparation work and at the same time directed the next steps until the election is successfully organized; listened to and resolved difficulties, problems, recommendations and proposals from localities, organizations and relevant agencies.

Thereby, unifying awareness and high determination in action to prepare most carefully and fully for the election - a major political event of the country taking place as planned, truly a national festival, a festival of the whole people and truly a great success.

READY FOR THE NATIONAL FESTIVAL

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the Conference, Comrade Vuong Dinh Hue - Politburo member, Chairman of the National Assembly, Chairman of the National Election Council emphasized that so far all preparations have been basically completed, ready for election day.

With only 5 days left until the election day, the Chairman of the National Election Council requested that it is necessary to continue to thoroughly implement the directives of all levels related to the election; proactively develop election organization plans suitable to the situation of each locality and in accordance with the functions and tasks of each agency and unit.

The National Assembly Chairman also requested to continue reviewing, perfecting, and carefully rehearsing election plans in the context of the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to prepare plans to handle other situations such as natural disasters, in order to ensure the best conditions for a successful and safe election.

Along with that, it is necessary to continue providing additional training for personnel of units participating in the election, especially for the election teams, and at the same time reserve human resources for the election teams; organize testing, prioritize Covid-19 vaccination for personnel participating in the election, especially in high-risk areas.

Election committees at all levels need to grasp and promptly report newly arising issues related to personnel; obstacles and difficulties in the preparation process according to regulations; promptly grasp the actual number of voters in the area to ensure the highest voter turnout rate; flexibly organize polling locations and areas in areas subject to social distancing, concentrated quarantine areas, and blockades.

Ensure fairness in candidate campaigns; promote information and communication work on elections, especially focusing on grassroots information, innovate propaganda forms in a visual and vivid direction, promote the role of village elders, village chiefs, and prestigious religious dignitaries; strengthen the fight against distorted and sabotaged election arguments of hostile forces, political opportunists, and reactionaries, including in cyberspace.

The Chairman of the National Election Council emphasized the spirit of organizing early elections and the climax is to concentrate on the unified election on May 23, 2021, determined that no locality, unit, or election team will hold late elections. Therefore, for areas that need early elections, especially quarantined areas, there must be specific documents so that the National Election Council can provide timely guidance.
