(Baonghean.vn) - A word of thanks to Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh at this time is probably necessary when SLNA is about to turn a new page. Because no matter what, the contributions of people like Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh and Ho Van Chiem are very valuable.

As a player in the army until 1980, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh left the army and became a football coach in Binh - Tri - Thien province. Starting in 1983, he returned to Nghe An and from then until 2004, he held key positions in Nghe An football: Team Captain, Deputy Head of Delegation, Head of Football Delegation, Executive Director of Song Lam Nghe An Football Club.

That was the period of formation and boldly marking Nghe An football on the map of Vietnamese football. Because at that time, compared to big names like The Cong, CA HN, CA TP. HCM..., SLNA was still quite far behind in terms of history and achievements.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh's name has truly been associated with the brand.SLNAfamous. Fans, generations of SLNA players, and now coaches all respect him and consider him a teacher, who has made great contributions to the development of Nghe An football.

Not only generations of students, Vietnamese football also has to admire Mr. Thanh. Because he is one of the earliest people in Vietnam to have an AFC A certificate at the same time as coach Nguyen Thanh Vinh. In addition to the A certificate, Mr. Thanh also received a FIFA Futuro 1, 2 (higher than the A certificate). He is currently a senior lecturer of AFC and FIFA, with a professional management certificate and an intermediate-level state management certificate.

The reason people call him “Khong Minh of Nghe An” is because he was the one who laid the first foundations for Nghe An football and youth training here. Having early access to football knowledge at that time, he was the one who in the 90s of the last century created a model of youth football training in a centralized, international standard.

During the period 2004 - 2009 when Mr. Thanh went to work in Hanoi, Nghe An football went through an extremely difficult period. The first team played poorly and youth training declined, not following the right trajectory. That was also the reason why the generation of players born in 1997 - 1998 of SLNA was not uniform and outstanding. And then when Bac A Bank took over SLNA, Mr. Thanh and his student Huu Thang accepted the invitation to return with the task of rebuilding Nghe An football.

In the period from2009 to 2021, SLNA has had ups and downs but has remained consistent, never relegated and achieved many achievements thanks to the support of sponsors such as V.League championships, National Cup, National Super Cup and countless records in youth titles.

Despite many difficulties, SLNA Club and its youth training model are still admired and learned by other centers. To be fair, people like Mr. Thanh have made good use of resources, the attention of the province, and sponsors to helpSLNAbecome a strong brand, worthy of being the pride of Nghe people.

As a member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation for many years, Mr. Thanh has made great contributions to the overall development of the country's football. With his contributions to Nghe An football in particular and Vietnam in general, Mr. Thanh has received a certificate of merit from the Government and many other noble awards.

The life and career story of Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh in the history of formation and development of Nghe An football is difficult to tell, but Nghe An fans and admirers are all secretly grateful and acknowledge his contributions.

At this time, in the midst of a transitional period and modern football has changed too quickly, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thanh may no longer be suitable, but no one can deny that he is a living testament to the history of Nghe An football and the "father" who laid a solid foundation for the journey of over 40 years.
