Criminal charges filed for leaking classified police documents.

The Security Investigation Agency has initiated a criminal case for intentionally disclosing state secrets that occurred at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

On May 26th, the Thai Binh Provincial Police announced that the person under investigation is the head of a department at the Thai Binh Department of Natural Resources and Environment. According to Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh, Director of the Department, the official still comes to work at the office every day.

This man is suspected of having used his phone to photograph classified documents sent by the Thai Binh Provincial Police to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and several local agencies in June 2020.

The Security Investigation Agency believes this document fell into the hands of Vu Van Son (38 years old, nicknamed Son "Long"), causing him to instruct his subordinates in a private group on social media to be vigilant and guard against the illegal buying and selling of invoices.

On September 21, 2020, Son "Long" was charged and detained by the Thai Binh Provincial Police on charges of suspected criminal offenses.Intentionally disclosing state secretsAs stipulated in Clause 1, Article 337 of the Penal Code, immediately after a subordinate confessed to possessing confidential documents stored on his mobile phone.

By recovering data from the phone, the Security Investigation Agency determined that the image of the document belonging to Son "Long" was indeed the image stored on the official's mobile phone. However, the official denied having sent it to Son "Long".

In addition to the above case, Son "Long" is also being investigated for other offenses.Theft and embezzlement of propertyandIllegal trading of invoices.along with two accomplices, Pham Thi Mo (54 years old) and Nguyen Thi Dieu (26 years old).

Son "Long" is a gangster with a criminal record.Intentional infliction of injury.After being released from prison, Son established a company specializing in the trading of construction materials and site leveling in Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, and surrounding areas.
