(Baonghean.vn) - Instead of making fences from bamboo, people in Huoi Pai village, Yen Tinh commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An) have made stone fences to protect their fields. The stone fences are neatly and elaborately arranged, running along the stream, looking very unique.

Huoi Pai village is located next to Pai stream. Every rainy season, the water pushes a lot of pebbles back, so people pick up the stones and gradually stack them up to make a fence to protect their fields. Photo: Tien Dong

Ms. Vi Thi Bang said that making a stone fence is more solid, and there is no fear of buffaloes and cows entering the fields to destroy it. Instead of placing it all at once, local people will place a little stone each day, and over time the fence will become taller and longer. Photo: Tien Dong

Mr. Vi Van Khun - Head of Huoi Pai village said: Since 1985, some households have come to this area to establish villages and reclaim rice fields. Because the people's fields are mainly located along streams, so to prevent Pai stream from silting up because after each flood, many pebbles are washed away, people have collected stones to make fences, gradually creating the stone fences as they are today. Currently, along the streams, the row of stone fences protecting people's fields is nearly 2 km long, and each year it is still being built longer. Photo: Tien Dong
