Nghe An: Extreme weather, risk of thunderstorms, hail and flash floods
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, in the mountainous district of Ky Son, extreme weather conditions have occurred, with thunderstorms and tornadoes causing some houses and schools to have their roofs blown off and localized flooding.
On June 2, in Pha Danh commune, districtKy SonThere was a heavy rain accompanied by hail. The hail caused the corrugated iron roofs of 2 rows of level 4 houses including 5 classrooms of Pha Danh Secondary School and 6 roofs of some households in Keo Luc 3 village, Pha Danh commune to be blown off.

In addition, on the afternoon of June 4, heavy rain and thunderstorms also occurred in Ky Son, causing localized flooding in some areas, the most severe of which was in Block 4, Muong Xen town.

According to the forecast of the North Central Hydrometeorological Station, due to the influence of a low pressure trough with an axis at about 19-22 degrees north latitude, combined with high-altitude wind convergence, from the afternoon and night of June 5-8 in the North Central region, there will be moderate rain, locally heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms, with the possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.
Total rainfall from Thanh Hoa to Northern Nghe An is from 40-80mm/period, some places are higher than 100mm/period. From Southern Nghe An to Ha Tinh, rainfall is from 20-50mm/period, some places are higher than 50mm/period.

Head of the Forecasting Department - North Central Hydrometeorological Station Tang Van An emphasized: Given the complicated weather developments, especially warnings of localized heavy rain in a short period of time, there is a high risk of flash floods, landslides in the midlands and mountainous areas, flooding in low-lying areas, cities and urban areas. Therefore, localities need to have optimal response plans to minimize the damage caused by heavy rain./.
