Nghe An: African swine fever epidemic 'cools down'

(Baonghean.vn) - By early June, the African swine fever epidemic in Nghe An had "cooled down", with only 53 outbreaks remaining in 13 districts and towns.

Recently, African swine fever has occurred in many districts in the area.Nghe Antend to "cool down", only small epidemic points remain.

Yen Thanh, Thanh Chuong and Dien Chau districts from March to early May are "hot" spots forAfrican swine fever: Yen Thanh with 22 communes, Thanh Chuong over 30 communes, Dien Chau 18 communes announced African swine fever.

However, by early June, all three localities had "cooled down" regarding African swine fever: Yen Thanh district had 15 communes declaring the end of the epidemic at the end of May; Thanh Chuong district declared the end of the epidemic in 12 communes; Dien Chau district declared the end of the epidemic in 14 communes.

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, as of June 5, African swine fever in the province has decreased significantly compared to 1 month ago.

As of June 5, there were 53 outbreaks that had not passed 21 days, in 13 districts and towns, including: Do Luong 10 outbreaks, Thanh Chuong 17 outbreaks, Yen Thanh 7 outbreaks, Dien Chau 3 outbreaks, Anh Son 4 outbreaks, Nam Dan 2 outbreaks, Hoang Mai Town 1 outbreak, Quy Hop 1 outbreak, Tuong Duong 1 outbreak, Que Phong 4 outbreaks, Nghi Loc 1 outbreak, Hung Nguyen 1 outbreak, Quynh Luu 1 outbreak.

Mr. Ngo Duc Quynh - Deputy of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine commented that although the African swine fever epidemic in the province has "cooled down" significantly, the risk of re-epidemic is high, because there is currently no vaccine to prevent the disease; pig farming is still mainly done by households, small-scale, and solutions have not been applied.epidemic safety, disinfection is still limited. In particular, the management of slaughter, transportation and pig farming in many localities is still limited.
