Mr. Le Xuan Bich's family in Hamlet 4, Dien Trung Commune (Dien Chau) has a large-scale farm system that can raise 7,000 broiler chickens per batch. However, his family is currently in a deadlock because nearly 2,000 broiler chickens are ready to be sold but cannot be sold because there is notradercome, even though the price is rock bottom.
"Three days ago, the family sold over 2 tons of chicken meat at 55,000 VND/kg, making a profit. But on June 8, the family continued to sell nearly 2,000 chickens weighing nearly 2 kg/chicken, but could not sell them because no traders came to buy them. There is no other way, now we have to keep them, every day the family has to invest 2.4 million VND in feed, on the contrary, the chickens are no longer old enough, so we lose money" - Mr. Le Xuan Bich shared.

Not only Mr. Bich's family, but dozens of households raising broiler chickens in Dien Trung commune are facing similar situations, the reason is that sinceCovid-19 epidemichas occurred in Ha Tinh province up to now, especially since the Provincial People's Committee issued a document on temporarily closing restaurants in Vinh City and 4 neighboring districts to prevent and fight the epidemic, so chicken meat cannot be consumed.
Mr. Dau Ngoc Hoa - Director of Livestock CooperativeVietGAP chickenDien Trung could not help but feel impatient, saying: There are currently more than 40 broiler farms in the commune. Broiler products here are often sold in cities from Nghe An to Quang Tri. However, the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic have caused a large amount of broiler chickens in the cooperative. Statistics as of June 9 show that the cooperative still has more than 40,000 broiler chickens that are ready to be sold and cannot be sold, even though the price has dropped from 55,000 VND/kg to 40,000 - 45,000 VND/kg.

Previously, there were nearly ten trucks carrying chickens to be sold everywhere every day, but for the past three days no trucks have come to pick them up, so the farm is full of unsold chickens.
Now, only traders come by motorbike to buy chickens at cheap prices, but the quantity consumed is insignificant compared to the current number of chickens. Chickens cannot be consumed, forcing families to continue investing in raising them, but the irony is that the longer the raising time, the more loss, because the chickens are no longer old enough to grow," said Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa.
The complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic means that households raising VietGAP broiler chickens in Dien Trung commune are sitting on hot coals, because they have to continue investing in chicken feed, while feed prices are high, and the chickens are no longer growing.
