The Ministry of Public Security is investigating a group of cyberattackers on VOV Electronic Newspaper.
The leader of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) - Ministry of Public Security said that professional units are investigating and clarifying the group of subjects who attacked the VOV Electronic Newspaper.
On June 12, VOV (Voice of Vietnam) electronic newspaper published two articles related to Ms. Nguyen Phuong Hang (wife of Mr. Huynh Uy Dung, owner of Dai Nam tourist area) including: "Ms. Phuong Hang with her unconventional livestreams: It's time to take strict action" and "You cannot give yourself the right to insult anyone online".
The series of articles publishes objective opinions of experts who are politicians, lawyers, journalists... and does not make subjective assumptions or judgments from the editorial office.

However, after the series of articles were published, some subjects hadprovocative behavior, creating fake accounts to attack many platforms of VOV Electronic Newspaper. The climax of which was the DDOS attack (denial of service) aimed at VOV Electronic Newspaper on June 13; attacking the newspaper's Fanpage; sending emails, making insulting calls to the people who answered the interview, insulting the reporters who wrote the article with threatening and insulting messages...
On June 14, speaking to reporters, a leader of the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention (A05) - Ministry of Public Security said: "We have received the dispatch from VOV and are aware of this issue. Currently, professional units are investigating and clarifying. This is the unit's responsibility to investigate and clarify this issue."
Previously, the leaders of the Ministry of Information and Communications directed Viettel and VNPT to urgently handle the cyber attack on VOV Electronic Newspaper on June 12-13, 2021./.
