Authorities dismantle a multi-billion dollar football betting ring in Nghe An.

The ringleader of this gambling operation is Nguyen Pham Hung (born in 1983), residing in Dien Thanh commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province. Hung was the mastermind behind the football betting account, organizing gambling activities for gamblers in Vinh city, Dien Chau district, Do Luong district, and Ky Anh town, Ha Tinh province.

This is a very large gambling ring, involving many individuals in Nghe An, Ha Tinh, and Hanoi. The methods used by the suspects are very sophisticated, employing various applications.high technologyto commit a crime.

Therefore, Colonel Pham The Tung, Director of the Nghe An Provincial Police, directly led the special task force. The goal was to resolutely investigate and apprehend all members of the network, from the ringleader to the very last descendant. The requirement was to simultaneously ensure pandemic prevention measures were in place while also fulfilling police operational requirements.

To apprehend Hung and his accomplices, Vinh City police detectives spent months tracking them online; they also mobilized approximately 100 officers and soldiers when conducting the arrest. By June 16, 2021, 14 suspects had been arrested, and the police are continuing to expand the investigation to apprehend many more suspects.

Initial investigations determined that on June 11, 2021 alone - the opening day -Euro 2020The amount of money "flowing" through Nguyen Pham Hung's gambling ring was 38.4 billion VND. And from November 2020 to the present, the total amount of money that authorities have proven through electronic data and online accounts is over 1,000 billion VND. The police have seized 3 cars, 30 mobile phones, 5 ATM cards, 1 iPad, 750 million VND in cash, and frozen 7 related bank accounts.
