Vinh Diocese stops all religious activities to prevent Covid-19 epidemic
(Baonghean.vn) - The entire Vinh Diocese will stop celebrating all Masses, pastoral activities, and community activities such as catechism classes, retreats, meetings, association activities, and inter-family prayers.
On June 19, Bishop of Vinh Anphong Diocese Nguyen Huu Long sent a notice to the local Catholic community about dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in the new situation.
The announcement stated that the Covid-19 epidemic is spreading at an alarming rate throughout the country and in Nghe An province in particular. In just one week (from June 13 to June 19), Nghe An province had 26 cases of Covid-19 infection. Authorities at all levels, health agencies, relevant sectors as well as the whole society are working together to stop the spread of this epidemic, as well as actively treating infected patients.
"With a sense of community responsibility, we Catholics must not be indifferent, but must join the government and our people in preventing and suppressing the Covid-19 epidemic," the announcement of the Bishop of Vinh Diocese wrote. Given the seriousness of the epidemic, in order to join hands with the government and the whole society to stop the spread of the epidemic, on June 19, the Vinh Diocese decided to stop all religious activities in the entire diocese.

Accordingly, the entire Vinh Diocese will stop celebrating all Masses, pastoral activities, community activities such as catechism classes, retreats, meetings, association activities, inter-family prayers, etc. At the same time, the ordination ceremony of priests on June 29 will be postponed until further notice.
From Sunday, June 20, Catholics in the diocese will attend online Masses broadcast on the media channels of Vinh Diocese or attend online Masses of other dioceses to suit their activities.
