Nghe An: GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of the year ranked 14th/63 nationwide

(Baonghean.vn) - Despite many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the province's GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of the year is still estimated at 7.58%/scenario 7.61%; ranked 2nd in the North Central region, ranked 14th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities.

On the morning of June 22, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee attended the regular meeting of June 2021 of the Provincial People's Committee.

The meeting was held online at 21 locations in districts, cities and towns, chaired by comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Duc Trung said that this was an important meeting, reviewing the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of the year and discussing solutions to implement tasks in the last 6 months of the year. The meeting took place in the context of the complicated and unpredictable developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, with the whole province currently having 33 positive cases in 5 localities. The province's key task at this time is to focus on preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic and ensuring socio-economic development.

Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Xuan Duc reported that in the first 6 months of 2021, facing the complicated developments of the Covid-19 epidemic, the Provincial People's Committee actively directed all levels and sectors to focus and make efforts to well implement the "dual goal", both resolutely preventing and effectively fighting the epidemic, protecting people's health, and promoting socio-economic development. The socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2021 was basically stable, with some sectors and fields achieving good growth results.

The work of epidemic prevention and control has received special attention and strong direction from the Provincial Party Committee; the timely and effective participation of the entire political system, the trust, solidarity and support of the people; especially the sense of responsibility and high efforts of the functional forces at the front line. The province has focused on drastically implementing a system of synchronous and appropriate solutions to control the epidemic, best protecting the health and lives of the people.

From June 13 to 6:00 a.m. on June 22, Nghe An recorded 33 cases of SARS-CoV-2 infection, of which Vinh city had the highest number with 21 cases, Dien Chau district had 9 cases. To control and prevent the epidemic from spreading widely, the Provincial People's Committee has implemented social isolation according to Directive 16 for Vinh city and some communes in Dien Chau district and Quy Hop district.

Despite many difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the province's GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of the year is still estimated at 7.58%/scenario 7.61%. Of which, the industrial sector is estimated to increase the most with 20.44%. Nghe An is the locality with the GRDP growth rate in the first 6 months of the year ranked 2nd in the North Central region, ranked 14th out of 63 provinces and centrally-run cities.

State budget revenue in the first 6 months of the year is estimated at VND 9,504 billion, reaching 67.7% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council and increasing by 30.4% over the same period in 2020. Of which, domestic revenue is estimated at VND 8,634 billion, reaching 67.6% of the estimate and increasing by 27.4% over the same period in 2020. Local budget expenditure in the first 6 months of 2021 is estimated at VND 12,439 billion, reaching 48.4% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council.

The province has focused on building and perfecting mechanisms and policies to improve the investment environment. The Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) of Nghe An province in 2020 ranked 18th nationwide, maintaining the same position as in 2019; ranked 2nd in the North Central region, in which the dynamism index of provincial leaders increased by 18 places compared to 2019. Foreign affairs activities were directed and implemented in accordance with the situation and developments of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Investment attraction has seen many changes. As of June 18, 2021, the province has granted 44 new projects and adjusted 60 projects; the total newly granted and increased investment capital is 9,278.71 billion VND. Compared to the same period in 2020, the number of projects increased by 33% and the registered capital increased by 2.5 times.

Mobilizing capital for social development investment is estimated at 36,324 billion VND, an increase of 11.42% over the same period in 2020. As of June 10, 2021, the concentrated public investment capital managed by the province has disbursed 756 billion 27 million VND, reaching 26.05% of the assigned plan.

In the field of culture, society, activitiesEducation and training have been adjusted to suit the developments of the Covid-19 pandemic. The health sector has been proactive, active and promptly implemented epidemic prevention and control work, especially the Covid-19 pandemic. Cultural, physical education and sports activities continue to receive attention, meeting the needs of the people.

State management and administrative reform are enhanced with the motto: "Fast - Correct - Effective" in consulting and resolving administrative procedures for people and businesses.

The Provincial People's Committee has directed specialized agencies to improve the quality of consultation according to the motto of shifting from "explaining" to "solving", attaching responsibility to the head and linking it to the evaluation of year-end emulation results.
