Nghe An: Many people were punished for posting false information about Covid-19 on Facebook
(Baonghean.vn) - Notably, among the individuals posting false information, there are 2 cases of local reporters and 1 individual who is a local official.
On June 23, Mr. Tran Anh Tuan - Chief Inspector of Nghe An Department of Information and Communications said that through the work of managing information on cyberspace and in the press, the unit has recently discovered false information about the Covid-19 epidemic on Facebook and in the press. After conducting verification, Nghe An Department of Information and Communications determined that the information posted by some Facebook account holders on their personal Facebook pages and in the press was completely false.
Notably, among the individuals posting false information, there were 2 cases of local reporters and 1 individual who was a local official. On June 21, the Inspectorate of the Nghe An Department of Information and Communications presided over and coordinated with the High-Tech Crime Prevention Department (PA05), the Internal Political Security Department (PA03) of the Nghe An Provincial Police to draw up administrative violation records and handle administrative violations against these individuals in accordance with the provisions of law.

"Hereby, we request that Facebook users, especially press reporters and civil servants in localities, when posting information in general and information about the Covid-19 epidemic in particular on their personal Facebook pages, comply with the Code of Conduct on social networks issued together with Decision No. 874/QD-BTTTT dated June 17, 2021 of the Ministry of Information and Communications," said Mr. Tuan.
The Chief Inspector of the Department of Information and Communications also requested that social media users and reporters only post information that has been verified by individuals and authorized agencies.
