(Baonghean.vn) - Up to now, nearly 1/3 of Covid-19 patients in Nghe An are related to Vinh wholesale market. The outbreak here has also spread to 5 districts, cities and towns in the province.

As of the afternoon of June 30, Nghe An province has recorded 99 Covid-19 patients since the outbreak in mid-June. Of these, 31 patients are related to Vinh wholesale market.

The outbreak at Vinh wholesale market has also spread to 5 districts, cities and towns. Of which, Vinh City has 22 cases, Hoang Mai Town has 2 cases, Nam Dan has 3 cases, Nghi Loc has 3 cases and Quynh Luu has 1 case.

In Vinh City alone, this outbreak has also appeared in many wards and communes. Of which, Quan Bau ward recorded 9 patients related to Vinh wholesale market; Vinh Tan ward has up to 5 cases...

The first patient related to this outbreak was discovered on June 22, when health authorities organized screening tests in the community. This person was a trader, selling goods at Vinh wholesale market. Immediately after that, authorities issued urgent notices several times to find traders and those who had visited Vinh wholesale market in June.

After screening and testing, localities such as Hoang Mai town, Nam Dan, Nghi Loc, and Quynh Luu discovered that traders and their family members were infected with Covid-19. To date, the whole province has screened more than 6,000 people who are traders or have been to wholesale markets in June. These people are required to quarantine at home. However, there are still some people who used to trade at wholesale markets but made false declarations, some were found to be infected with Covid-19 when taking their wives to the hospital to give birth.

Therefore, up to now, many localities are still urgently looking for people related to Vinh wholesale market to request home quarantine and take samples for testing. In Vinh City, authorities even "go to every alley, knock on every door" to trace people related to this outbreak.

Up to now, this outbreak has also spread through many cycles. One case that can be mentioned is the patient in Quan Bau ward. This person is a trader at Vinh wholesale market, then infected his neighbor, who in turn infected her husband and children. In Quan Bau ward, there are currently 8 patients infected by this person.

Health authorities have yet to determine the exact source of the outbreak at Vinh wholesale market. Due to the complex nature of this market. This is the largest transit point for goods in the region. Here, every day, thousands of vehicles transport goods from many provinces and cities across the country, including many provinces with epidemics. Then they are transported to districts, cities and towns in the province. Therefore, it is not impossible that the epidemic was spread by a trader who went to get goods from a local area with an epidemic. Like the case of a couple in Quy Hop district who went to Bac Giang province to buy lychees to sell in Da Nang, then brought Covid-19 back to their hometown and infected their children.

In addition, there is also another opinion that this outbreak is related to the first Covid-19 patient recorded in Vinh City. Specifically, through epidemiological investigation, before being discovered infected, this girl had gone to Vinh wholesale market to buy goods.
