Covid-19 pandemic is increasingly spreading around the world with 11 worrying variants
The World Health Organization (WHO) said this morning (July 3) that the Covid-19 epidemic is spreading widely around the world, as 11 variants that WHO considers worrisome or of concern continue to spread.
Of these, the Delta variant, first detected in India, is believed to be responsible for the explosion of new cases in the South Asian country. At times, India recorded more than 400,000 cases a day. The rate of infection in India has recently slowed significantly after strict lockdown orders. The Taj Mahal, a world wonder, reopened to visitors for the first time in two months on June 16.

However, health officials in the country have still issued warnings after confirming the existence of a variant of Delta, called "Delta plus". India has called for breaking the spiral of infections in the country as well as around the world through public health measures such as wearing masks, social distancing and accelerating the pace of vaccination.
Another variant called Lambda has also been detected in Peru. It is present in 81% of samples taken from cases. The Lambda variant has also been detected in Argentina and Chile.
The number of new Covid-19 cases is also increasing rapidly in some Asian countries such as Indonesia and Bangladesh, with new waves of infections also breaking out in the UK, Russia and South Africa./.
