(Baonghean.vn) - During the 2021 - 2026 term, the 18th Nghe An Provincial People's Council has 4 Committees: Legislation, Economy - Budget, Culture - Society and Ethnicity.

According to the law, the Provincial People's Council establishes the Legal Committee, the Economic - Budget Committee, the Cultural - Social Committee; in places with many ethnic minorities, an Ethnic Committee is established.

At the meeting, comparing the provisions of current laws, the People's Council of Nghe An province, term XVIII, passed a Resolution to establish the Ethnic Council of the People's Council of Nghe An province, term XVIII, term 2021-2026.

Regarding the standards and conditions for establishing the Ethnic Committee, the Standing Committee of the National Assembly stipulates: The Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council is established when 2 out of 3 standards and conditions are met: The province has over 20,000 ethnic minorities living in concentrated village communities; The province has over 5,000 ethnic minorities who need the State's focus on helping and supporting development; The province has ethnic minorities living in areas that are important for security and defense; areas with intercropping and inter-residential areas; and the border has a large number of ethnic minorities from our country and neighboring countries who regularly travel back and forth.

Nghe An province meets all the conditions to establish the Ethnic Council of the Provincial People's Council. Because currently, in the province, there are nearly 1.2 million people living in ethnic minority and mountainous areas (accounting for 36% of the province's population), of which nearly 500,000 are ethnic minorities (accounting for 14.76% of the province's population and 41% of the population in the Western region).

Nghe An has 47 ethnic groups living together. The area of ​​ethnic minorities and mountainous areas is 13,745 km2, accounting for 83% of the province's natural area, is a particularly important strategic location in terms of economy, politics, national defense, and security, with 27 communes of 6 border districts bordering more than 468 km of border with Laos.

Accordingly, Mr. Pham Thanh Chung - Deputy Director of the Department of Justice was elected to hold the position of Head of the Legal Committee of the 18th Provincial People's Council; Mr. Tran Dinh Toan - Deputy Head of the Legal Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council continued to be elected to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Legal Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council.

Mr. Cao Tien Trung - Deputy Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council was elected to hold the position of Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the 18th Provincial People's Council. Mr. Hoang Lan - Deputy Head of the Cultural - Social Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council was elected to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Economic - Budget Committee of the 18th Provincial People's Council.

Ms. Luc Thi Lien - Deputy Head of the Ethnic Committee of the Provincial People's Council, term XVIII was elected to hold the position of Deputy Head of the Culture - Social Committee of the Provincial People's Council, term XVIII.

Ms. Lo Thi Kim Ngan - Head of the Ethnic Committee of the 17th Provincial People's Council was re-elected as Head of the Ethnic Committee of the 18th Provincial People's Council.

The Provincial People's Council has passed a Resolution regulating the number of members of the Committees of the Nghe An Provincial People's Council for the 18th term, 2021 - 2026. Specifically, the Committees: Law, Economy - Budget, Culture - Society and Ethnicity, each committee has 7 members.
