Couple fishing on Lam River quickly saved 4 people swept away by the water

After the incident in which Mr. Ngo Van Nam (born in 1967) and his wife in hamlet 5, Dang Son commune saved 4 people from drowning,drowningOn Lam River, many people and youth union of Dang Son commune - Do Luong visited the couple's house.
In the small house, Mr. Nam slowly told: The incident happened at around 6:00 p.m. on July 9, a group of 4 people including Bui Duy T, Bui Duy D, Cao Tien L, Bui Nguyen D, in hamlet 1, Dang Son commune (aged 18 to 28) went swimming in the river in the area of the Ba Ra dam and were swept away by the water.

At that time, Mr. Nam and his wife were fishing on the Lam River nearby. Hearing the cries for help from the group of victims, the couple rowed their boat towards the dam and took turns rescuing each person onto the boat.
Mr. Ngo Van Nam recalled: “At that time, the river water was flowing fast, I thought that if I swam across the middle of the river it would be very dangerous, so with many years of experience in the river, I quickly took a long pole and signaled to the victims in the water to coordinate to find a way to get on the boat. Luckily, a young man in the group was strong, so he joined forces with my wife and I to pull each person closer to shore. After that, my wife and I were able to get all 4 people onto the boat safely. If we had been just 1 to 2 minutes later, a bad situation would have definitely happened.”
“I am also very worried because swimming in the river is very dangerous now, drowning can happen at any time, even though all four young men know how to swim,” Mr. Nam added.

The brave act of Mr. Ngo Van Nam and his wife to save people has been admired and praised by many people. The group of 4 people that Mr. Nam saved from “death’s door” came to Mr. Nam’s family to thank him and his wife.

We will report this incident to the commune government, propose that the government promptly encourage the brave action of Mr. Nam and his wife to save people".
