Two Nghe An candidates scored 10 in Math without studying at a cram school

(Baonghean.vn) - In the 2021 High School Graduation Exam, in Math, there were 50 scores of 10, of which 6 scores of 10 belonged to candidates from Nghe An. Do Luong district alone had 2 candidates with a score of 10. Notably, both of these candidates were self-taught and did not take extra classes at a test preparation center.

The first candidate to score 10 in Math is Nguyen Sy Quyen in Hamlet 2, Van Son Commune (Do Luong), a 12th grade student at Do Luong 1 High School. In this year's high school graduation exam, Quyen scored 28 points, including: Math 10, Physics 8.75, Chemistry 9.25.

Since primary school, Quyen has loved Math. Thanks to his passion for Math and his diligence in studying, in grade 5, he won the third prize in the Math competition for children in the Provincial Excellent Student Competition; and the third prize in the Math Olympiad for children at the Primary level. In grade 2, Quyen passed the entrance exam and studied at Ly Nhat Quang Secondary School. With his outstanding academic performance, in grade 7, Quyen continued to win the Encouragement Prize in the Math competition for children. In grade 9, he won the third prize at the provincial level in Math. In the Math competition for children in grade 12, Quyen continued to win the third prize.

Quyen shared: “For Math, I study at home by myself, I don’t go to extra classes at exam preparation centers. When the teacher teaches in class, I have to concentrate on listening to the lecture, then go home and find exam questions from the Department of Education and specialized schools to solve.”

At the recent National High School Graduation Exam, Quyen said that he did the easy questions first, then the difficult ones. The Math exam had 50 questions, Quyen did the first 43 questions and re-tested 3 times before solving the difficult questions. After finishing the entire exam, Quyen spent 2 minutes reviewing his entire exam. After finishing the exam, there were only 2 minutes left to submit the exam.

Although Quyen is a good student, he does not study too much, but allocates his study time reasonably, so that he has time to play sports, especially soccer. In the afternoon, he studies from 2 to 5, in the evening from 7 to 11. He said that his wish is to study at the Police Profession Faculty - People's Police Academy.

The second candidate to score 10 in Math in this exam is Dau Van Can from Hoi Tam hamlet, Thinh Son commune (Do Luong). Can is an independent candidate. Before taking the exam, Can was a first-year student in the Faculty of Automation - Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

After 1 year of studying at school, he realized that this department was not suitable for him and he wanted to study Information Technology. To pursue a new path, Cuong decided to stop studying and retake the exam. To prepare for this exam, Can studied by himself, without going to any exam preparation center. And he achieved an extremely impressive score of 27.5 points, including: Math 10, Physics 9, Chemistry 8.5.

Can's academic achievements are truly remarkable, from grade 1 to grade 12 he was an Excellent Student. Grade 5 achieved IOE at the provincial level. In secondary school, Can was selected to join the district's Physics Excellent Student Team to compete in the provincial excellent student competition. Thanks to his hard work, plus the encouragement and support of his parents, after finishing secondary school, Can passed the entrance exam to the Physics 1 specialized class - Vinh University High School for the Gifted. Studying in a school far from home, but in return, Can was taught wholeheartedly by teachers and loved by friends. In grade 11, Can won third prize in the Provincial Physics Excellent Student Competition and was selected to join the Provincial Excellent Student Team to compete in the National Physics Competition.

Dau Van Can said that he mainly studies by himself. He often collects math problems on the Internet. Moreover, one thing that he must remember is that Can received a lot of help from his high school teachers during his studies. He was given in-depth discussions about math, especially advanced applications and difficult problems.

For Can, when studying, he always concentrates, keeps his mind relaxed, and doesn't stay up too late. During the learning process, he must understand and grasp the essence, and at the same time, not learn by command or memorize.

Can also added that he was directly admitted to the Vietnam-Japan Information Technology Faculty - Hanoi University of Science and Technology. However, Can is monitoring the score distribution to decide on the appropriate school to study./.
