(Baonghean.vn) - With difficult family circumstances, her parents work as construction workers to make a living, but with her determination to overcome difficulties, Pham Kim Oanh, a 12th grade student of C1, Co Do High School, Nghia Dan district, achieved excellent results, entering the Top 10 nationwide in block C with 29 points in the 2021 National High School Graduation Exam.

These days, the family of Mrs. Le Thi Luan, Tan Thinh hamlet, Nghia Thinh commune, is more crowded with relatives, friends, and teachers coming to congratulate their third daughter, Pham Kim Oanh, who has just achieved high results after the National High School Graduation Exam.

Although Oanh’s family just escaped poverty last year, their circumstances are still difficult. Feeling sorry for her parents’ hardship, she sometimes asked to quit school to work to help her family. Seeing that she has the will and is a good student, Oanh’s parents and teachers always encourage and help her to study with peace of mind.

As a result, for 12 years, she has always achieved the title of excellent student, in the 8th and 9th grades she was an excellent student in Literature at the provincial level, in the 12th grade she won 3rd prize in Geography. Especially in this year's National High School Graduation Exam, with 29.75 points (including 9.5 in Literature; 9.75 in History and Geography and 0.75 in the region), Pham Kim Oanh has excellently entered the Top 10 of Block C nationwide.

Ms. Le Thi Luan, Oanh's mother, said: "Before, my parents were in difficult circumstances so they could not study much. Now I also try to let my child study so that she will not suffer. When we heard that she got high scores, the family was happy but also very worried because the next journey is still difficult."

Talking about her learning process, Oanh said: I didn't have the opportunity to take extra classes, so right from the time I entered high school, I studied hard and was determined to pass the university entrance exam.

"Studying in block C is not as hard as other blocks, so after school hours, I spend time helping my parents with housework and farming. I study mainly in the evening and create for myself a high sense of learning with passion, excitement and comfort," Oanh confided.

In Literature, to study well, I always grasp the basic content, understand the problem of the work, read the work over and over again, take full notes of the lectures of the teachers in class, do not study haphazardly or study in many places to avoid confusion of knowledge. History is a difficult subject, according to Oanh, to achieve a high score in this subject, I need to focus on closely following the textbook program to review for the exam. Divide history into each historical period, have a system, link knowledge with mind maps, learn from the most basic knowledge and then study advanced knowledge to expand, so it is easy to remember. In Geography, I try to grasp the basic knowledge in class. After each lesson, I will summarize the knowledge in a small notebook that I always carry with me to easily remember the lesson. Through each practice lesson, I often apply theory with practice to grasp the climate of the land, what plants can be grown, what animals can be raised...

Oanh also said that she did not study continuously but allocated her time clearly. Each session spent about 2-3 hours reviewing and re-reading the content of the lesson. The learning method was not memorization or rote learning, but also needed to be scientifically arranged: dividing knowledge into many topics and building mind maps for each topic. From that learning method, Oanh thought she had chosen the direction when before the exam she felt that she had covered almost all the knowledge content for the exam. When she received the results, Oanh was very happy but she was not surprised.

Talking about the recent national high school exam, Kim Oanh confided: “When reading the Literature and History questions, I found them much more difficult than last year. However, if you know how to reason and apply knowledge, you can still get a high score. In History, there are quite a few difficult questions that require high thinking, memorization alone is not enough.”

According to Oanh, to achieve excellent results in exams, not only knowledge but also a relaxed mentality is needed. When too stressed, you must be really calm, read the questions first, choose easy questions to do first, and arrange your time to do the test reasonably. Especially, you should not be subjective, you need to check your work carefully before submitting it.

Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Hai - Vice Principal of Co Do High School said: "Student Pham Kim Oanh, class 12C1, Co Do High School, although in difficult circumstances, has a high level of self-discipline in studying and has very good learning methods. This is a very worthy achievement for her."

Sharing about her future plans when entering school in the near future, Oanh plans to find a part-time job to reduce the burden on her parents. "My dream is to study Law to become a lawyer. I want to stand up for justice to demand justice for the poor and I will strive, work hard and gradually realize my dream," Oanh shared./.
