(Baonghean.vn) - Hired by a person to take people to Laos by river, Dau agreed and invited his cousin to join. In the end, the two brothers were arrested and the leader quickly escaped.

On August 5, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of two defendants Lo Van Dau (born 1983) and Luong Du Lan (born 1988), both residing in My Ly commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Organizing illegal exit for others”.

Dau and Lan are two defendants in an illegal immigration ring led by Nguyen Anh Tuan (born in 1988), residing in Dien Ky commune, Dien Chau district.

The investigation agency determined that, although he had no function or authority to send people abroad, for economic reasons and taking advantage of the border area, Tuan organized to send 4 people to Laos (in addition, there was a 4-year-old child accompanying his mother). Each person going to Laos had to pay Tuan 7 million VND.

At 3:00 a.m. on March 5, 2021, 4 people from Yen Thanh district were picked up by Tuan by car and taken to Ky Son district. Because they had contacted him in advance, Tuan drove this group to Dau's house and paid Dau 4 million VND for the service.

Dau used 1 million VND to buy gasoline for the motorboat to take people to Laos, and 500,000 VND to pay for food for the group. After that, Dau invited his cousin Lan to go with him, promising to pay her.

When Dau and Lan were taking the group of people to Laos via the Nam Non River, they were discovered by My Ly Border Guard Station.

At the trial, the two defendants admitted to their crimes. Defendant Dau said he agreed to take people to Laos because he needed money to pay for his children's education. Defendant Lan said she agreed because Dau invited her to go with him but had not received any payment.

The panel of judges determined that the defendants’ actions were dangerous to society. They had taken people out of the country during a time when the Covid-19 pandemic was complicated, so they needed to be severely punished. The court sentenced Lo Van Dau to 9 months in prison and defendant Luong Du Lan to 8 months in prison with a suspended sentence.

Regarding Nguyen Anh Tuan, who has fled the locality, the authorities have issued a wanted notice for him.

For those who illegally exited to Laos, the border guard station has issued a decision to impose administrative penalties./.
