(Baonghean.vn) - Although the operation of manual tile kilns was stopped more than 4 years ago, hundreds of these tile kilns have not been dismantled to restore the land due to prolonged lawsuits, while the government is still worried about accidents.

Cua tile village (Nghia Hoan commune, Tan Ky), used to be the largest tile-making village in the Central region, and was a very popular brand. However, due to internal fighting between members of the cooperative, this once prosperous craft village has become desolate. Although authorities at all levels have intervened many times over the years, the conflict has not been resolved, leaving many consequences. Among them is the risk of accidents from hundreds of manual tile kilns that have not been demolished to restore the site. Photo: My Ha
Understanding the policy of eliminating manual brick and tile kilns, since 2013, many households in Cua village have established cooperatives to join hands to contribute capital to purchase equipment and install high-tech tile production lines. The kiln owners have contributed tens of billions of VND and have been allocated many hectares of land to start production. However, due to disagreements, dozens of other households later established a second cooperative. The two cooperatives have continuously sued each other, causing inspectors and even the police to intervene many times. Until the merger, the key members still could not find a common voice. As a result, the equipment line, which had been purchased a long time ago, still cannot operate. The members who contributed capital have not yet received a single penny of profit... Photo: Tien Hung
Meanwhile, since 2017, all the handmade tile kilns here have been forced to stop operating according to the previous policy. The government then asked the households to dismantle the handmade tile kilns and restore the land to return the land, but they did not cooperate. After the storm, these tile kilns were severely damaged, in danger of collapsing at any time. Just a light wind could blow the roof panels above crookedly and fall to the ground. Photo: My Ha.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hung - Chairman of Nghia Hoan Commune People's Committee said that according to regulations, households will have to dismantle, reclaim the land and return the land to the commune so that the commune can continue to call for investment. However, in the past 4 years, the number of households that have proactively dismantled can be counted on the fingers. "Every time it rains and is windy, the government is very worried because they are afraid that the tile kiln will collapse and cause accidents. Fortunately, there have been no incidents so far. In the near future, the government may have to hire machinery to demolish the entire tile kiln," Mr. Hung said. In the photo is the roof of a factory that was blown away by Lao wind by nearly half. The kilns have been cold for more than 4 years. According to the kiln owners, they contributed all their capital to the cooperative to buy high-tech tile production equipment. However, the cooperative has not been able to operate due to internal conflicts, causing many households to fall into debt. "That's why every time the commune requests demolition, the households explain that they don't have the funds," said the Chairman of the People's Committee of Nghia Hoan Commune. Photo: My Ha.

Meanwhile, right below these tile kilns, there are often many people herding cows and cutting grass. Many children also often choose this area to play. Photo: My Ha

In June 2020, during the meeting with citizens, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested relevant departments and branches, especially Tan Ky district, to pay attention to solving problems in Cua tile village. The Provincial Party Committee Secretary assigned the Chairman of Tan Ky District People's Committee, together with Nghia Hoan commune, to continue to work with the cooperative to solve internal problems, and assigned the Provincial Cooperative Union to send officials to coordinate with Tan Ky district to advise the cooperative on the steps to strictly implement the procedures. The above contents must be completed by 2020 at the latest... Photo: My Ha
However, up to now, more than a year has passed, the "mess" at this cooperative has not been resolved. The high-tech roof tile production project has not made any progress. Photo: Tien Hung
