(Baonghean.vn) - In just a few days, over 20,000 fertilized duck eggs from hatcheries in Hung Hoa commune (Vinh City) have been sold with the support of various organizations and groups during the pandemic.
CommuneHung HoaThis is a locality with a long tradition of incubating fertilized duck eggs in Vinh City. There are 11 households engaged in this profession, including 7 that specialize in large-scale incubation, supplying thousands of eggs daily to Vinh City and neighboring districts.

However, since the Covid-19 outbreak in the city, especially during the period when the city tightened its disease prevention and control measures even more strictly than Directive 16, the consumption of fertilized duck eggs by people in Hung Hoa commune has faced many difficulties.
Ms. Duong Thi Nhung from Hung Hoa commune shared: "Before the pandemic, eggs were consumed regularly. However, the Covid-19 pandemic has prevented many traders from coming to buy goods as before. The unique characteristic of fertilized duck eggs is that if they are past their expiration date, they will spoil or hatch into ducklings. Therefore, we had to ask for help from organizations, associations, and philanthropists to rescue thousands of eggs that were left unsold in the incubator."
Over the past few days, the Hung Hoa commune authorities have used various media outlets and social networks to contact units in the city to support the consumption of fertilized duck eggs for local people.

Mr. Duong Xuan Tham, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hung Hoa commune, said: "In just a few days of appeals, organizations and associations at the provincial and city levels, as well as wards and communes, have joined hands to purchase fertilized duck eggs from the people, estimated at about 22,000 eggs. Vehicles that meet the requirements for circulation in the city have arrived to pick up the goods and transport them to the ordering units."
Reportedly, the subsidized price for selling fertilized duck eggs ranges from 3,000 to 3,300 VND per egg. Currently, the local authorities continue to supply eggs to households, organizations, and collective kitchens that need them.
