Receive information from the masses

Recently, in response to the movement of All People Protecting National Security, local people in the province have raised their spirit and responsibility in denouncing crimes through channels deployed by the authorities to reflect cases of law violations in residential areas.

For example, in Do Luong district, at the end of July 2021, fromnews sourceprovided by the people, the District Police discovered a number of subjects taking advantage of people's lack of knowledge, taking advantage of loopholes in the law to lend money at high interest rates in the style of "black credit". Especially in Yen Son commune, people are very upset about the loan sharking activities of Ms. Hoang Thi Huong, born in 1958, residing in Hoa Truong hamlet.

This subject takes advantage of the economic difficulties of many people in the area to lend money for short terms, from 10 to 30 days with interest rates from 25,000 to 50,000 VND/1 million VND/day. When the interest payment deadline comes and the debtors do not pay, the subject often uses junk SIM cards to text, call to threaten, and curse to put pressure. If the debtors are no longer able to pay, the subject often asks to mortgage or transfer assets to clear the debt.

Receiving the report, on July 28, 2021, Do Luong District Police mobilized 15 officers, divided into three groups to surround and simultaneously raid the residence of Hoang Thi Huong; caught the subject red-handed lending money to many people and paying interest. Searching Huong's house, they seized 01 mobile phone, 05 notebooks, and many other evidences related to illegal credit activities. From there, it was initially proven that from the beginning of June 2021 to the time of her arrest, Hoang Thi Huong had lent 10 individuals a total amount of 2.5 billion VND with interest rates from 912.5% to 1,825%/year, illegally profiting more than 250 million VND.

Immediately, the task force deployed forces to the location where the people reported the news. During an administrative inspection of the subject Lu Van Dai (residing in Tang village), a package of white powder, suspected to be heroin, was discovered.

According to the provincial police leaders, every month, police units and working groups in Nghe An receive hundreds of reports and denunciations of crimes. For example, in the case in Quy Hop district, in July 2021, there were 5 cases of people traveling from epidemic areas to Quy Hop district but evading medical declarations, which were discovered by the public and reported to the police force. They were HTL (born in 1969), NTH (born in 1975), LTL (born in 1967), all residing in Chau Hong commune; VTH (born in 2001), residing in Chau Ly commune; TVD (born in 2001), residing in Ha Son commune. In Yen Thanh district, also through a crime report, one of the shocking cases of law violations by commune officials has just been accepted for investigation by the police. To legalize these illegal expenditures and conceal the violations, at the end of 2018, Mr. Nguyen Mao directed his subordinates, including Mr. Truong Van Chung, Mr. Nguyen Cong Bang, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuong, to create fake documents to support the construction of the Cultural House of Chua hamlet, Hop Thanh commune, causing a loss of 300 million VND to the State budget. In fact, the Cultural House of Chua hamlet, Hop Thanh commune was supported by the People's Committee of the commune to build in 2017, with an amount of 350 million VND.

After investigation and verification, on August 13, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecuting 4 defendants in Hop Thanh commune for the crime of "Abusing position and power while performing official duties". The defendants include: Nguyen Mao (born in 1963), former Chairman of Hop Thanh Commune People's Committee, residing in Ly Nhan hamlet; Truong Van Chung (born in 1973), residing in Dong Tien hamlet, Chief Accountant of the Commune People's Committee; Nguyen Cong Bang (born in 1986), residing in Ly Nhan hamlet, is a civil servant in charge of land administration, construction, agriculture and environment of the Commune People's Committee; Nguyen Thi Thuong (born in 1977), residing in Phan Xa hamlet, is a judicial civil servant and treasurer of the Commune People's Committee. The criminals were exposed and handled according to the provisions of the law, restoring the people's trust in the strictness of the law, contributing to protecting justice and peace for society.

The provincial police chief said that in the first 6 months of 2021, the two-level police investigation agencies strictly implemented legal regulations related to receiving, classifying, and handling crime reports. As a result, the rate of handling crime reports and recommendations for prosecution reached 92.6%.
