(Baonghean.vn) - Having received an order for heroin, Ma and his son Vu conspired to buy the "goods" on credit to resell. As a result, the father and son received a combined 40-year prison sentence.

On September 22nd, the Nghe An Provincial People's Court held a first-instance criminal trial to hear the case against three defendants: Lo Pho Loan (born in 1983), Lau Giong Ma (born in 1965), and Lau Ba Vu (born in 1996), all residing in Na Ngoi commune, Ky Son district, for the crime of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics.

Among the defendants, Ma and Vu have a father-son relationship.

According to the investigation documents, in December 2020, Lo Pho Loan was ordered by someone to buy one block of heroin for 120 million VND. This person promised to give Loan between 2 and 5 million VND after the transaction was completed.

In order to obtain drugs to sell to customers, in mid-January 2021, Loan contacted Ma to buy a block of heroin and was quoted a price of 100 million VND.

Later, Ma asked his son, Lau Ba Vu, to find drugs for him to sell. Through a previous acquaintance, Vu easily bought drugs on credit from a Laotian man. After receiving the goods, Vu hid the heroin in a forest area near his house.

On January 25, 2021, defendants Ma, Loan, and Vu went to a stream area in Na Ngoi commune to meet a customer for a drug transaction. While Vu was opening the package to examine the drugs, the police raided the scene and caught them red-handed with one block of heroin (weighing 350 grams). The drug buyer took advantage of the situation and quickly fled.

At the trial, the defendants admitted to the crime. Ma and his son Vu confessed that they had conspired to traffic heroin because they were poor and greedy.

The court determined that the defendants' actions were dangerous to society and violated the law. Considering the aggravating and mitigating circumstances, the court sentenced the three defendants: Lo Pho Loan, Lau Giong Ma, and Lau Ba Vu, each to 20 years in prison for the crime of "Illegal trafficking of narcotics."
