Due to the impact of storm No. 6 (Dianmu), from September 24 to September 27, 2021, Nghe An province experienced prolonged heavy rains causing widespread flooding. In particular, some areas of districts such as Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Yen Thanh, Tan Ky... were deeply flooded. In addition to power grid incidents caused by heavy rains, to ensure the safety of equipment and electrical safety for people,Nghe An Electricity Companyproactively cut off power and fired a number of power lines and transformer stations that did not ensure safe operation, to ensure safety for people in flooded areas.

Mr. Le Quang Thanh - Deputy Director of Nghe An Power Company said: "During the flood caused by the influence of storm Dianmu in the past few days, in Nghe An province, 505 substations lost power, the total number of customers lost power was 112,081 customers. Nghe An Power Company has proactively prepared human resources, materials, labor safety protection, information technology systems, organized working groups to the affected districts, directed the Power Companies to urgently handle and fix the problem, restore power to customers as soon as possible. With the motto of checking, fixing and reconnecting power as soon as the water recedes".

Immediately after the rainfall decreased and the flood water gradually receded, Nghe An Electricity Company inspected transformer stations and power lines, removed flooded loads, urgently repaired and reinforced the power grid system, handled and resolved existing problems before energizing and putting into operation to ensure the safety of electrical equipment and electrical safety for the people. As of the morning of September 28, 2021, the Company has energized 501 transformer stations, restoring power to 111,321 customers, ensuring safety and serving their lives and activities.

Currently, there are still 04 substations that have not been energized, equivalent to about 760 customers who have not been restored to power, because some areas in Quynh Luu district are still submerged in water, not ensuring safe power supply. Nghe An Electricity Company has sent teams and working groups to closely monitor the receding water level, and when possible, will inspect, fix, handle and safely restore power to serve the people. It is expected that by the morning of September 29, 2021, power will be restored to 100% of customers who lost power due to the impact of floods.

According to statistics from the Safety Department - Nghe An Electricity Company, as of September 28, 2021, damage to power grid assets in Nghe An province caused by floods and storms included 04 tilted medium voltage poles, 06 landslides, 01 broken lightning arrester valve of Tan Thanh No. 1 substation, DZ 371E15.13 (Yen Thanh substation), 184 broken low voltage poles, 118 tilted poles... estimated damage of about 1 billion VND. The above data is still changing because some places are flooded so statistics cannot be counted.
