Due to the complicated pandemic situation, the 2021 V.League season has been "broken halfway". For that reason, the National Championship Organizing Committee held an online meeting between the teams and related parties to find the optimal solution for the 2022 V.League season.

Accordingly, VPF has developed two competition plans:

Option 1, compete according to the format implemented in the 2020-2021 season (20 rounds), from February to October 2022.

Option 2, compete in a double round-robin format (26 rounds, from February to November 2022. The first possibility is V.League 1 with 26 rounds, starting from February 17, 2022 to November 5, 2022. V.League 2 starts from February 18, 2022 to November 4, 2022. The second possibility is V.League 1 with 26 rounds, from February 12, 2022 to October 22, 2022. V.League 2 starts from February 13, 2022 to October 21, 2022.

Expressing his opinion on the above options, SLNA head coach Nguyen Huy Hoang had the following opinion: "In my opinion, if we play 20 matches like option 1, we will be easily passive, no different from depending on the epidemic, having to always wait, so the benefits do not outweigh the disadvantages in signing contracts, especially foreign players, not good for the economy of the teams, the damage will be even more severe.

In V.League 2022, we hope that VPF should organize 26 rounds (option 2) as before, creating a fierce and fair competition for the championship and relegation because the teams can play at home and away. That is in accordance with the nature of a national professional tournament. Along with that, playing a round-robin of 2 matches will serve the audience better.

If we go back to the way things were before, teams would have time to negotiate with sponsors, then make a specific competition plan. Professionals like me would also be better prepared, with a clear framework of 26 matches in a season to be able to sign contracts with players.

Therefore, in my opinion, the Organizing Committee should apply the V.League 2022 competition format as before."
