October Revolution - Revolution of the people
The October Revolution took place 104 years ago, but its influence transcends space and time, leading nations on the path to socialism.
The October Revolution - a revolution of the people's hearts, is the driving force and model for the Vietnamese revolution to go from one victory to another.
“Guiding star” for the Vietnamese revolution
The Russian October Revolution opened and marked a new era in human history, the era of transition from capitalism to socialism, the era of mastery of the working people and the working masses, building a regime without oppression and exploitation for the happiness of the majority of the people. Therefore, in the process of finding a way to save the Vietnamese nation, from the lesson of the October Revolution, President Ho Chi Minh affirmed that to save the country and liberate the nation, there was no other way than the path of proletarian revolution.

President Ho Chi Minh once affirmed the guiding role of the October Revolution for the Vietnamese revolution, for the realization of the goal of building a regime for the happiness of the people: "The experience of the October Revolution and the achievements of the Soviet Union are the guiding stars for us in the cause of building a happy life for the Vietnamese people" (1).
Although the collapse of the socialist regime in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe slowed down the progress towards socialism in the world, it could not reverse the trend towards socialism on a global scale. The Party affirmed that according to the evolutionary law of history, mankind will inevitably move towards socialism. Therefore, firmly pursuing the goal of building a regime that liberates people from all oppression and exploitation, firmly pursuing the people's mastery in our country is not only the aspiration of the people but also an objectively inevitable trend: "In any conditions and situations, we must firmly implement the renewal policy and renewal goals, firmly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, firmly pursue the goals of national independence and socialism" (2).
One of the five guiding viewpoints pointed out by the 13th National Party Congress is: “Firmly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought; firmly adhere to the goal of national independence and socialism; firmly adhere to the Party’s renewal policy; firmly adhere to the principles of Party building to firmly build and defend the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland” (3). Therefore, firmly adhering to this goal means firmly adhering to the path that President Ho Chi Minh and the Party chose, the path of the October Revolution.
Revolution of the people
Having the correct leadership of the Party is very necessary and important but not enough. It is necessary to gather, organize and mobilize the people to support and participate in the Party's policies. Therefore, building a strong political and armed army from the masses to participate in the revolution and carry out the tasks of the revolution is also an important lesson that contributed to the success of the October Revolution.
Recognizing the importance of the masses to the success of the revolution, the Bolshevik Party determined that the most important task of the entire Party at this time was to fight for the majority of the working class and the masses, to establish a large political army capable of overthrowing the bourgeois government, and to isolate and defeat the Menshevik and Socialist Revolution compromise parties. Therefore, the Bolsheviks persistently went among the working class and the masses to educate, mobilize and rally the masses to support the Party and actively implement the Party's slogans. The Party realized that only through struggle, revolutionary activities and organization could it educate and propagate to the masses.
The October Revolution succeeded because it was a revolution of a deeply popular nature, an uprising of the masses under the slogan “workers, peasants and soldiers unite” regardless of class, religion or ethnic background. The success of the revolution was due to: “In the light of the Theses, the Bolshevik Party gathered the entire Party, successfully built an increasingly large political army capable of defeating opposing forces, and successfully carried out the October socialist revolution” (4).
Lenin repeatedly emphasized the power of the masses and the gathering of forces for the success of the revolution: “We have won the majority of the class that stands as the vanguard of the revolution, the vanguard of the people, and is capable of attracting the masses to follow us. We have won the majority of the people... Victory is certain to be ours” (5); “The Russian workers would probably not have been able to seize power from the bourgeoisie without the sympathy and trust of the oppressed masses in the periphery of Russia” (6).
Vietnam is reaping many successes in the process of realizing the goal of “a rich people, a strong country, democracy, justice, and civilization” because we have believed in and followed the path of the Russian October Revolution. Lenin once affirmed: “...The further that great day is from us, the clearer the significance of the proletarian revolution in Russia becomes, and the more deeply we think about all the practical experiences of our work” (7). The experiences that this revolution has left for Vietnam: “Following the path outlined by the great Lenin, the path of the October Revolution, the Vietnamese people have achieved great victories. That is why the attachment and gratitude of the Vietnamese people to the glorious October Revolution, to the great Lenin... is extremely profound” (8).
