Nghe An strives to remove EC Yellow Card on seafood exploitation
(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 10, a working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development led by Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien had a working session with Nghe An province on the situation of removing the European Yellow Card and other related issues.
Also attending were leaders of the Directorate of Fisheries, representatives of the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and the Department of Seafood Exploitation.Chairing the working session with the delegation from Nghe An province was comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. The report also pointed out some shortcomings and limitations in exploitation and fishing such as low awareness of people in complying with regulations on preventing illegal fishing in coastal and offshore areas; outdated infrastructure system, inadequate current status, and human resources of fisheries management team in estuary areas. Based on pointing out some limitations, the province also proposed some solutions and proposed to the Directorate of Fisheries as well as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to upgrade fisheries infrastructure, and directions to remove difficulties to handle obstacles in removing the EC Yellow Card.

In addition to the implementation of regulations on combating illegal IUU fishing and recommendations to remove the EC Yellow Card, Nghe An province also reported to the working delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on some aspects of veterinary animal husbandry and disease situation in the area, the current status of the management apparatus; causes and progress of vaccination for livestock and poultry; solutions to remove and handle the problems of the province...

The Deputy Minister shared the province's difficulties in implementing anti-illegal fishing as well as the difficulties due to the disease situation in livestock, hoping that Nghe An will continue to consider removing the Yellow Card and combating IUU fishing seriously and substantially because our country has integrated internationally, for the future of the fishing industry, not to deal with inspections by the EC or Vietnamese authorities. The province needs to continue implementing regulations on combating IUU fishing, urgently implementing approved fishing infrastructure projects to exploit all available space...

On behalf of the provincial leaders, Comrade Hoang Nghia Hieu - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee respectfully thanked the Ministry and the working delegation for their attention to the province in the past time. In response to the comments and suggestions of the working delegation members, the province will direct relevant departments, branches and localities to find solutions to overcome the above limitations and shortcomings; will reorganize the IUU Steering Committee to the commune level; continue to devote resources and attention to fisheries, combat illegal IUU fishing; punish major violations, disconnect VMS in the past time; increase investment resources for vaccination to prevent diseases in livestock and poultry for economic development.
