5 people who illegally brought workers to Germany were sentenced to prison

(Baonghean.vn) - Although they did not have the function of sending people to work abroad, for the sake of profit, the 5 defendants organized for a number of workers to work illegally in Germany.

Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just opened a first-instance criminal trial of the defendants: Ha Thanh Dien (born in 1986), Mai Thi Hang Nguyen (born in 1982), both residing in Ho Chi Minh City; Vo Van Loi (born in 1973), residing in Dak Lak province; Nguyen Van Tan (born in 1972), residing in Dien Doai commune, Dien Chau district and Hoang Thi Lai (born in 1972), residing in Do Thanh commune, Yen Thanh district for the crime of "Organizing others to flee abroad".

According to the indictment, although it did not have the function of taking Vietnamese people abroad,labor exportabroad, but for personal gain, on August 25, 2018, the subjects Dien, Nguyen, Loi, Tan, and Lai organized for workers to go to Germany to work illegally.

After a period of illegal living in Germany, the workers were discovered and arrested by the authorities. At the end of 2019, the workers were deported back to Vietnam.

At the trial, the defendants admitted their crimes as charged in the indictment. After the incident, the defendants partially remedied the consequences for the workers.


After considering the nature, criminal behavior and aggravating and mitigating circumstances of each defendant in the case, the panel sentenced defendant Ha Thanh Dien to 24 months in prison but suspended the sentence; defendants Vo Van Loi, Nguyen Van Tan, Hoang Thi Lai received 18 months in prison, suspended; and defendant Mai Thi Hang Nguyen received 15 months in prison, suspended.
