(Baonghean.vn) - On December 22, the Ministry of Information and Communications held a conference to review the work in 2021, deploy directions and tasks in 2022, set out a medium-term development plan for the period 2022 - 2024 and orientation to 2025.

In 2021, the industry's total revenue reached VND 3,462,170 billion, basically completing 100% of the set plan, growing by 9% compared to 2020, a growth rate of 3.6 - 4.5 times higher than the forecast growth rate of 2% - 2.5% of the country's GDP. The total number of employees in the IT&T industry in 2021 reached 1,431,041, an increase of 8% compared to 2020. The ranking indexes of some areas of the IT&T industry have been highly appreciated by many international organizations.

According to the 2021 Postal Development Integration Index report published by the Universal Postal Union (UPU), Vietnam ranked 47th out of 172 countries (up 2 places compared to 2020); in the field of Cyber ​​Security, Vietnam has made a strong improvement in the international rankings (GCI) (from 50th in 2020 to 25th in 2021); In 2021, the number of national domain names ".vn" reached 544,361, an increase of 5.2% compared to 2020, in the Top 11 in Asia - Pacific, ranking 45th globally.

Regarding media and press work, in 2021, the arrangement and planning of press agencies in 29/29 ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies; 33/33 Central Association organizations and the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; and 31/31 localities were completed. The licensing of new press agencies, granting of additional press types, and re-issuance of press operation licenses were carried out carefully, objectively, and scientifically, ensuring compliance with legal regulations and Party directives.

The conference also discussed and proposed the Medium-term Plan for the period 2022 - 2024 and orientation to 2025 of the Information & Communications industry.
