That is the guiding principle of the head of the Tan Ky District Labor Union in its operations. "Having few grassroots unions and a small number of union members is one of our limitations when organizing activities."

The "Beauty of Trade Union Members" photo contest organized by the Tan Ky District Labor Federation last year is a testament to this spirit. As this was the first time organizing an online photo contest, the trade union officials of the Tan Ky District Labor Federation faced many difficulties during implementation, especially in the judging process.

To ensure fair, unanimous, and objective results, the organizing committee meticulously updated the software to filter out fake likes and shares. Despite being a small-scale competition, its positive impact was surprisingly significant. Followers and interactions on the district's Labor Union fanpage increased, positive images of union members were shared, and even many union units from outside the province proactively contacted them to request the regulations and judging software.

The spirit of learning and not being afraid of difficulties is also clearly demonstrated in the products used for propaganda work. Amidst the complex circumstances of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, the Tan Ky District Labor Union's spirit of overcoming difficulties and embracing new challenges helped the unit "score points" with a series of meaningful, practical, and appropriate programs and activities.

Specifically, in coordination with the Nghe An Provincial Labor Union, the district organized a theatrical performance at Manh Thanh Garment Co., Ltd. to disseminate information about the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; achieved excellent ratings in the "Workers' Month" program in 2021; conducted gender equality awareness campaigns for over 200 union members in Huong Son, Tan An, and Nghia Phuc districts; participated in the "75,000 Initiatives for Overcoming Difficulties and Development" program with 947 initiatives; over 80% of union members and workers participated in the competition to learn about the election of National Assembly and People's Council representatives at all levels for the 2021-2026 term; over 80% of union officials participated in the online competition "Nghe An Provincial Labor Union Officials Learn About the Resolution on Renewing the Organization and Activities of the Vietnam Trade Union in the New Situation," and the district Labor Union won second prize in the province; established 2 new grassroots trade unions and admitted 459 new members…

Acknowledging the efforts of the Tan Ky District Labor Union in the past period, Comrade Nguyen Chi Cong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Labor Union - further shared: “Not only has the Tan Ky District Labor Union been a pioneer in successfully implementing the targets and activities set by the General Confederation of Labor and the Provincial Labor Union, but it has also been timely in disseminating and spreading these activities to the government, the people, union members, and workers. This benefits the unit in particular and the trade union organization in general.”

UNDERSTANDING LEADS TO BETTER COORDINATION

One of the factors contributing to the achievements of the Tan Ky District Labor Union is the coordination and consensus between the labor union organization and the Party committee, government, and grassroots labor unions. This is built on a foundation of mutual understanding.

In coordinating and organizing activities, and understanding the limitations of its own human resources, the Tan Ky District Labor Union always makes thorough preparations for all programs. This creates professionalism and credibility for the organization.trade unionin the eyes of the government, businesses, and the people.

Mr. Dau Duc Cuong, Chairman of the Trade Union of Dai Thanh Garment Company, shared: “The trade union officials of the District Labor Federation always proactively direct and coordinate smoothly in the programs taking place at the grassroots trade union, which makes us feel very secure and supportive. They understand the difficulties of part-time trade union officials like us, who are busy and have little time, so they are always ready to support and create the best conditions. Besides that, they also understand our strengths to create opportunities for us to develop confidently and comfortably.”

With that same understanding, during the implementation of programs and activities at the grassroots level, the District Labor Union always bases its decisions on the specific characteristics of each unit and the strengths of each individual.

“Before implementing any activity, we always thoroughly analyze its requirements and determine which union members and workers it is suitable for. After careful analysis, instead of implementing it indiscriminately, we choose to focus on the appropriate target groups. This helps ensure that the activities are of high quality, avoiding dilution and superficiality,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai, Vice President of the Tan Ky District Labor Union.

According to Mai, these people themselves...trade union officialsThe district's Labor Union also consistently assigns tasks that match each individual's strengths and abilities, and manages separate groups of grassroots union officials. When collective strength needs to be mobilized, these groups are encouraged in different ways, sometimes even competing with each other to create a movement.

The understanding, thoughtfulness, and meticulousness of the Tan Ky District Labor Union officials also contribute to building the unit's "brand" in coordinated activities with the District Party Committee Standing Committee and other mass organizations. Based on the coordinated program from the beginning of the year, the District Labor Union always develops additional specific implementation plans before any event and assigns specific tasks.

With its achievements and efforts in 2021, the Tan Ky District Labor Union was recognized by the Provincial Labor Union as having excellently completed its tasks. As of now, the total number of affiliated grassroots labor unions in the district is 119 (including: 78 in administration and public service; 19 in enterprises; and 22 in communes and towns); the total number of workers and employees is 4,514; and the number of union members is 4,117.
