It is known that banh ca is a long-standing traditional craft of the people of Hung Tan commune. Initially, only a few households in the commune made it to earn extra income, but over time, the cake craft was focused on and developed into a tradition. At the end of 2020, Nam village was recognized as a craft village by the People's Committee of Nghe An province. Photo: Dinh Tuyen

Previously, banh ca was only produced during Tet to be displayed on the family altar and to entertain guests during Tet. However, in recent years, banh ca has become a local specialty, loved by the people. During the peak period from August to December, each year a household produces from 1 to 2 tons of banh ca to sell to the market. Banh ca is not only trusted by people in the province but also spread to Ha Tinh province, to the capital Hanoi and even to Ho Chi Minh City... In addition to producing banh ca, people also combine to develop additional products such as fried dough sticks or green rice flakes to serve customers. Photo: Dinh Tuyen
