US has not yet imposed sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline
The United States will not impose sanctions on the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline to protect “a potential weapon against Putin”.
This was announced by US Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen during her visit to Kiev as part of the US Congressional delegation.
Sanctions against Nord Stream 2 are imminent?
At the same time, the politician noted that Washington sees the project as an energy threat to Europe.
“Now the priority is to send a strong message to Russian President Putin together with our allies. We do not want to impose sanctions on Nord Stream 2 right now, because in this way we will remove from the negotiating table a potential weapon against Mr. Putin. It will also create distance between the United States, Germany and our allies in Europe at a time when we should be as united as possible,” the senator explained.

A delegation from the US Congress arrived in Kiev on January 17, including representatives of both the Democratic and Republican parties. The purpose of the politicians' visit was to confirm bipartisan support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Nord Stream-2”
The Nord Stream 2 project involves the construction of a gas pipeline with a capacity of 55 billion cubic meters per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany. The Russian Federation has repeatedly called for the cessation of mention of Nord Stream 2 in any politicized context, as it is a commercial project that benefits both Russia and the European Union.
