Authorities said they had arrested two department leaders in Viet Yen district for colluding with businessmen to buy poor quality equipment and then inflate its value, causing billions of dong in losses to the state.
The Investigation Police Agency of Bac Giang Provincial Police determined that the subjects in the case colluded, divided the project, and divided the bidding package totendering; made up documents for the purchase and sale of goods in a roundabout way to increase the price of educational equipment by 3 to 5 times, causing losses to the state budget of billions of dong.

The three arrested suspects include: Nguyen Huy Thao (born in 1978), former Head of the Finance and Planning Department of Viet Yen district from 2018 to December 2021, currently Head of the Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs Department of Viet Yen district; Nguyen Thi Song Ha (born in 1968) - Deputy Head of the Finance and Planning Department of Viet Yen district; Nguyen Van Cao (born in 1988) in Tuc Duyen ward, Thai Nguyen city (Thai Nguyen province), is the owner of the business household Tran Vu with an address in Phu My residential group, Dinh Ke ward, Bac Giang city.
Previously, on January 14, the Investigation Police Agency of Bac Giang Province Police issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused, issue an arrest warrant for temporary detention, and a search warrant for the residence and workplace of the above 3 accused for the crime of "Violating bidding regulations causing serious consequences".
