Nghe An General Friendship Hospital: 10 outstanding milestones in 2021
(Baonghean.vn) - With the determination to unite to overcome the pandemic, in 2021, Nghe An General Friendship Hospital completed the "dual goal": both pioneering in epidemic prevention and control and developing technical expertise with the motto "Top quality - In-depth development - Raising new heights"; worthy of the "leading bird" of Nghe An's health sector.

1.According to Decision No. 1670/QD-BYT dated March 25, 2021, the Hospital was recognized by the Ministry of Health and assigned to be the final hospital in terms of technical expertise in medical examination and treatment in the North Central region in internal medicine, surgery and obstetrics. This is a milestone marking a turning point in the Hospital's remarkable development, while contributing to the development of the health sector of Nghe An and the North Central region.
2.The hospital has achieved remarkable results in the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic. In 2021, the hospital organized screening and triage of people coming for medical examination and treatment and detected 54 cases positive for SARS-CoV-2; organized 29,486 vaccinations; tested SARS-CoV-2 on 170,000 samples of patients, relatives, and hospital staff.
The hospital is a pioneer in Covid-19 treatment, trusted by the health sector and the province to be in charge of the Covid-19 Intensive Care Center of the region. The center has received and treated 809 severe and critical Covid-19 patients from Nghe An and Ha Tinh, of which 739 patients have been cured; performed emergency surgeries on nearly 300 cases in the field operating room, saving the lives of hundreds of critical cases. The hospital is also assigned to be in charge of Field Hospital No. 8, which has so far treated more than 3,152 Covid-19 patients, of which more than 2,822 have recovered.
As the "big brother" of the health sector, the Hospital has sent 96 staff members to Ha Tinh province, Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong province and the province's field hospitals to support epidemic prevention and control for districts and towns in the province.

4.The hospital is one of the few provincial hospitals that can perform many advanced and specialized techniques at the central level. In the difficult context due to the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, the hospital continued to perform 10,901 routine advanced techniques, of which 116 new techniques were deployed in 23 specialties. In particular, in 2021, the hospital deployed leading special techniques such as: ECMO, kidney transplant, surgery to clip the neck of the cerebral aneurysm in the anterior part of the circle of Willis, and endoscopic spine surgery.

6.Successfully converted to online working, adapting to all complicated developments of the epidemic. 8.Promoting the spirit of mutual love and affection among medical staff, the Hospital promotes social security work, accompanies and supports patients in difficult circumstances through charity meals, free bus trips, and support for hospital treatment fees... with a total value of nearly 300 million VND. Every year, the Hospital also supports the construction of gratitude houses, accepts to care for Vietnamese Heroic Mothers, and takes care of policy beneficiaries...

9.In 2021, the hospital staff and many medical staff were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Prime Minister and Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee in recognition of the hospital staff's efforts in excellently completing the tasks of epidemic prevention, control and medical examination and treatment.
10.After a long time of efforts, Nghe An General Hospital has affirmed its traditional day (September 18, 1918 - September 18, 2021) and organized a celebration event with a series of meaningful activities. This is a milestone affirming the great contributions of the Hospital in the cause of taking care of people's health, as well as enhancing the responsibility of all levels, sectors and people, contributing to building the province's final hospital.
